Oh yeah, it reminds me of the end of college when it came out and I started dating my ex and early spring when we broke up. Also reminds me of taking the train across Norway.
PV is the most “complete” album I think, but it’s just no longer the first (or second, even) record I reach for when I want Turnover. The two that followed are much more up my alley these days. Lots of incredible memories with it though. I remember being blown away the first time I heard it, as a person that outright hated everything else they’d done
I tend to spend more time with PV and GN, Altogether is good don’t get me wrong but it just lacks the staying power those other two have for me.
PV and GN are close to equal to me, love them both. Loved Blue Dream, and songs off Magnolia and the EP prior. I revisited Altogether this weekend and still feel it’s weak.
Late to the conversation but Good Nature is my favorite. I fell in love with these guys because of PV, but I don’t revisit it often because of the lyrics. Funny enough, my fiancée doesn’t really like GN either because she thinks it’s too melancholy.
Only song on Altogether I’m not that into is Number On The Gate, and even then I think it’s partially because of where it falls in the sequencing as the last in a trio of songs that sound basically the same
listening to this right now, bass absolutely goes the whole album. Number on the Gate is on the weaker side, but it really is because its the 4th song in a row that's too similar sounding. Putting it after Valley of the Moon might've made it sit better with me.
Peripheral Vision > Good Nature > Altogether. All three are great in their own way though. Humblest Pleasure songs are also really great. I also don't think Still In Motion touches PV but it's still good.
Whenever I listen to this record I usually change it to something else after the A side. The first half I think is a lot better than the B side.
