Yeah, echo what everyone else has noted about Disney prioritizing established IP for theatrical release. Very disconcerting that the studio who owns that much of Hollywood is that reliant on only relying on things we already know.

It's nothing new, of course, but even "Pixar" officially not being a good enough brand to sell a movie on... sucks.

Good for everyone involved with Bob's Burgers for getting an exclusive theatrical release but that must be an extra blow for Pixar that The Bob's Burgers Movie is getting one and they aren't simply because of contractual obligations from the Fox deal.

This is great. It’s Mitchells Vs. The Machines level of pop savviness and energy mixed with a good version of Brave.

I’m sorry but none of these kids would have a cellphone in 2002.

This was a fun little movie. Got more laughs than I expected.

there was no need for it to be set in 2002 though. Could have probably done something funny with social media if it had been “present day”. Oh well, it’s also not a big negative thing either, outside of the kids having cell phones.

also, there is a very brief post credit scene.

And despite showing a 110m run time it’s actually 90 with a shit ton of credits.

Forgot this was coming out this soon. Excited to watch with the kids. The positive reception has me hyped.

I had a cellphone then , and the director was setting it when she was that age and like everyone else super into boy bands

You are an exception then. Cell phones were not that mainstream for 13 year olds at that time. A boy band does fit in 02, but it’s certainly not exclusive to that era.

A lot of teens I knew in the early 2000s had cell phones. I remember because I was a late adopter to it.

I got my first cell phone when I turned 16, in 2005

2005 would be a little more believable. The cell phones stuff is a few years ahead of it’s time in the movie.

it doesn’t break the movie or anything, it’s in one sequence and that’s really it. But it instantly took me out of the moment since they made it such a specific year rather than an era. A vague early to mid 2000’s setting I would roll with it.

2002 or 2003 was when I got my first cell phone. Freshman year of high school
