From what I gather, and judging from my own experience, he has the incredible ability to draw the uneducated from out of the woodwork and make them believe they actually have a shot at understanding modern, complex issues such as this one.

Obviously, his fans are nothing like that (I'm using the word "fans" here because they're usually not the academic type), and would rather flaunt vague credentials (or, like in your case, their "intellect") than actually do the research.

Obviously, their "work" is mostly online because the relative anonymity of the internet makes it easier for them to pretend they're educated enough to discuss these issues at a level they would like to be able to.

how is the economy better than ever? The China tariffs are absolutely horrendous for retailers. Almost 80% of the population lives paycheck to paycheck, hardly anyone can buy a house, 140 million are either poor or low-income, one medical emergency can bankrupt someone and 62% of jobs can’t even support a middle class life. What about that is “better than ever”?
