You see the leader of the Republic the Chancellor, a President like figure, was without evidence charged for corruption. The Jedi, a group of democracy posturing, but utterly useless and inefficient party like the Democrats wanted to arrest the Chancellor and try him in front of the senate. Do you see the parallels here? Anakin being the hero he was saved the Chancellor from this witch hunt of a lynching and killed all the Jedi, thus saving the Chancellor and the Republic. A true hero.
