Yeah I like Jodie but didn’t think her acting was very strong in this. Was completely un aware of Juno until Fargo and she crushed it.
1, 3, 4, 2 for me, but 1 & 3 are absolutely on another level from the others. I think I enjoyed Night Country much more than most people seem to have. I do somewhat have a soft spot for Season 2, and think the cast is absolutely incredible pretty much across the board, but ultimately it is an absolute fucking mess with so much wasted potential. RIP Stan
Eh I don’t love the idea of promoting Texas as a production destination. Especially from an industry that claims to care about women and the lgbtq community
I had only seen TD: Night Country previously, which I think I liked, but people here were hyping season 1, so I finally got around to watching season 1 over the last couple days. Both Woody and Matthew gave amazing performances, but man, several parts of the story really bummed me out, or were just depressing to sit through. And the story wasn't all that fascinating/riveting. I've never been a fan of crime shows in general, so that's probably clouding my judgement, but yeah. Rust's little speech to Marty at the end, with Marty just kneeling there, listening. "...and then I woke up". Heavy shit, man. Think I'm going to wait a while before catching season 2.
S1 is dark, yeah, but really good. I always felt it's way less plot-driven than people give it credit for. It's more about the two lead characters and their conflicting ideologies, and how the story acts as a pressure cooker for those ideologies to change, stay the same, or completely fall apart. it's also an incredible achievement in tone. the emotional atmosphere is so charged in that season - everything from the visuals to the dialogue. they never really reached that quality again but season 3 gets pretty close. did not enjoy s2 much. night country sucked.
I need to give season 2 another run. I thought 3 was really good but couldn’t reach 1. Night country was a step down from 3 but miles ahead 2.
