This finale…. sucks ass???? It’s so dumb i might have actually come around to the idea season 2 was better.
I think this is the worst season. It’s close with season 2 but the forced attempts to tie it to season 1 were more egregious than anything season 2 did. Rust’s dad kicked this whole thing off by appearing to someone and leading to the finding of the bodies. That ended up being completely unexplained. They made the crooked spiral so lame and common that I was annoyed anytime it came up. It wouldn’t have been very good anyway but shoehorning in season 1 ended up being a really disappointing distraction
I guess it’s just because of his involvement in the first season, but I was still surprised to see Cary Fukunaga’s name as executive producer after all of the allegations against him. Then I saw he’s directed several “Masters of the Air” episode and truly, there are no consequences.
Vince Vaughn being unexpectedly good in s2 ekes it in over Jodie Foster being unexpectedly terrible in this
fwiw his work on the latter was finished before the allegations came out, that show was just shelved for years
Just read that in Rolling Stone and it looks like they’re downplaying his role with the show and he’s not doing press. Sounds like another Ansel Elgort/“West Side Story” situation.
I thought for a split second that when they found the underground bunker room through the ice tunnels, that all the equipment was gonna be some sort of spacecraft being built a la Blair in The Thing building the ship underneath his cabin where they had him locked in.
lol yeah I did think it looked weird. Wasn't sure if it was because I'm just used to ice walls like that being portrayed as white/dull blue and not shiny like what ice would probably really look like. But it just made it look weird.
The ice caves looked like they were going through a waiting line at a hypothetical Frozen ride at Disney
I genuinely do not care what the ice looked like lol, there were 20 other things in the finale that were worse.
My biggest things were what was the significance of the song and why was it on a loop and what’s up with the blood from the ears? I can deal with everything else
Frankly did not like the finale very much. Thought the pacing of the season sucked and they tried to pack too much into the final third of the show. Only thing I kinda sorta liked about it was the explanation for who killed the Tsalal scientists. The supernatural stuff was a big nothingburger and kinda cheapened the show in the end imo. Too many loose ends left open for the sake of keeping things ambiguous.
why was the song playing again when they came back to the tsalal station? she broke the DVD player the first time they were there.
I was wondering the same thing when I saw that. She definitely broke that shit the first time around. And idk why that dude would've plugged it back in just for it to go on loop again.
anyone care to explain why the video we see of annie k dying doesn't match up with what we see re: clark's recollection of the killing? i've seen people try to say that clark's an unreliable narrator and while that explains what he tells danvers/navarro not matching what we're seeing, it doesn't explain the video and the flashback not matching. especially when lined up with wheeler where the flashback is used to illustrate that danvers isn't telling prior the full truth. seems sloppy and like obvious reshoots that they didn't care about continuity with.
Idk, I'm with the critics on this one. I really dug it. Loved the setting, the corpsicle, the performances, and the way the mystery wrapped up. Navarro felt like the heart of the show, and I thought she had some great character moments throughout. Was also fun to watch Foster play a total asshole.
i think they wanted us to feel like navarro is the heart of the show but the writing and performance of the character was so sloppy that it never hit that way
