Meh, that shit's all mental. Cool vibes but way different to actual supernatural shit. Childress probably did know who he was, he was the lead on the case and looking for him.
True....but that doesn't explain the other crazy dude saying he saw him in his dreams haha. And, tbh....Do we think or know if Childress even knows what's going on in the news? He did have Cohle talk to him at the one school but the case was never mentioned there. And Cohle obviously looks super different than he did at that point haha. But otherwise he doesn't legally exist and doesn't seem to have cable or get newspapers. Only thing I can't figure is what happened between the 92 murder and 2012. Did the existing powerful members of the defunct cult somehow pressure Childress into knocking it the fuck off? And he felt free to kill again once Reverend Billy Lee was dead? Or was he killing that whole time in secret because he didn't want the Tuttles to know he was still going?
also imagine being taken there when the cult was actually up and running and you had a dozen or two dozen people all in animal masks with candles lit and etc etc. I think the Carcosa we saw was a shell of its former self and Childress had been left to his own devices there for a couple decades
those Mardi Gras masks are terrifying we didn't have that kind of Mardi Gras when I lived Lafayette, but Mamou still does one with those kind of masks/costumes
Season 1 probably some of my most favorite stuff ever but yeah I think it’s largely due to McConaughey/Woody. Like just give me a buddy cop flick starring those two
Man we drove through southern LA on our road trip and it seemed creepy enough as it was, if I knew this is what people around there do I woulda been terrified the entire time lmao WE did 10 to Lake Charles then turned south to the coast and drove through the bayou until turning north towards Lafayette to get to 90. This was after the first season had come out, so I'm kinda glad I didn't watch it back then because I def would have been freaked out driving around down there as tourists
Now that I think about it, we might have turned north on 27 back towards lake charles after crossing the ferry in Cameron and then back onto 10 and went east that way instead. I think the plan was to stay on the coast but then we decided we might want to get dinner in Baton Rouge and wanted that option available to us. We ended up not doing that and now I wish we had just stayed south and continued to drive through the bayou haha
There actually is a buddy comedy starring those two in development for Apple TV+. "Brother From Another Mother" will be a 10 episode half hour meta comedy where McConaughey and Harrelson play fictionalized versions of themselves, and will depict the two having to live together on McConaughey's Texas ranch.
I'm rewatching season 1 now and this is 100% true. Rust as a character shouldn't work but it does because of this.
Rewatched all of the seasons again leading up to Night Country and honestly, season three is my favorite
I love Seasons 1 & 3 of this, and I even have a major soft spot for Season 2 and find a lot of stuff to enjoy there buried amongst a whole lot of steaming garbage. Thought this was a great premiere. Definitely hooked me and had me excited to see how this plays out. I know it's super early, but I really liked all of the leads right off the bat, and it felt True Detective-y to me in the right ways but I also appreciated the fresh creative presence driving the whole thing. My only complaints were superficial and mainly had to do with wonky CGI environments / animals in a few shots, but I don't really hold something like that against a show if everything else is good.
Finishing up tonight’s ep and I’m completely out. Everything about this is poor: the scattered pacing, the dialogue and the acting itself.
It’s great for a Sunday night comfort watch. Other than that, it’s a little corny. But I will say the setting rules, the atmosphere is cozy, and I’m enjoying watching Jodie Foster be aggressive to everyone.
I'm going to keep watching for Foster and in hopes it gets better, but yeah it hasn't been great. The CGI animals were jarring. The shell company the young cop mentioned in this episode, it sounded like he said Tuttle United? From the first season?
