That first scene with him and Stephen in the present day was a very moving scene. They were both playing off each other so well.
Watching s1 for the first time since it first aired. My wife has never seen it and she’s enjoying it. Obviously they fumble the ending and it doesn’t live up to the cool potential of the occult stuff they were teasing. HOWEVER. The episode just ended where we get a glimpse of the dude in the gas mask and the next episode is Who Goes There which is one of the coolest one takes in tv. I’m hyped again
Is the general consensus that they fumbled the ending of S1? I think I felt that on first viewing of the last ep briefly…like during the “final boss” scene only…but quickly got over it with the way they wrapped everything up after.
I don't think they fumbled the ending at all. I suppose the story didn't end up going as supernatural / mystical as many people were theorizing / predicting (and I suppose hoping maybe) at the time, but I consider Season 1 to be one of the best TV shows / movies / stories told in the filmed medium in recent memory.
I remember being annoyed that every time they got one of the bad guys cornered and can finally get some answers they just shoot him
https://collider.com/true-detective-season-2-true-story/ Usually these headlines are nonsense just to get you to click the article, but that story with the Season 2 actors probably could've been pretty good.
Oh this is shaping up to be good. I still think Stephen Dorff was robbed of an Emmy just for that porch scene
