I was watching the oc last night and was pleasantly surprised when they didn't do this. Chris pratt's character was gonna tell Adam Brody something important and decided not to and Adam was like "??? What were you gonna say though? I know you were gonna say something!" And really wanted to know what it was and I was so happy lol
I don't know why but the badass walk away from explosions bugs me so much. Like, please just look back at it.
I hate when the main dude in a movie/show is going off to do whatever brave thing he has to do, then he goes to his son like "you're the man of the house now, look after your mom" like ????? the kid is 8 yrs old just because he's male he's not suddenly in charge.
Car scenes where the driver won't look at the road or they look at the passenger too much as they talk to them and I just know there's like an 80% chance a random car going a zillion miles an hour is going to slam into them any second
Speaking of car scenes and scary driving, I always get a laugh at what I like to refer to as "TV driving" (though I guess it happens in movies too, I see it a ton in sitcoms). The actors always have their hands on the wheel, but they're constantly moving it back and forth. If you were driving behind someone doing that, they'd be swerving all over the road.
Ya the "oh, but you wanted to tell me something?" and they decide not to after hearing them say something is one of the worst. I legitimately get upset when it happens. Excessive use of deus ex machina is annoying too. Actually it's just annoying in general and a sign of bad writing imo but it's used so often I guess I'm somewhat used to it. Also, one person tells a character to "stay put where you are", *character proceeds to wonder off*.
Kinda similar, but when one character is scared to tell some other character something (often their significant other), so they make up some terrible on-the-spot lie which just makes things worse and gets the other character suspicious over nothing. I feel like The Last Man on Earth did this all the fucking time and it was infuriating.
LOL my last car had such a loose steering wheel that I could pretty much drive like that and not swerve it was ridic
Also it always ends with the other character finding out and confronting the one who lied and being like "oh you know you can always talk to me about anything/ I'm always here for you/ blah blah blah" I'd be like "why the fuck you lyin over stupid shit"
When someone's boyfriend/girlfriend is cheating on them or up to no good somehow and when they get told their response is "Oh I get it. You're just jealous!" and doesn't believe them.
Heavy sleepers in horror movies. Loud things are always going on and nobody else ever wakes up. Like in Sinister where Ethan Hawke falls out of the attic and nobody hears him thump onto the floor lol. Or anything where one person investigates cause they hear super loud thumps or music plays or toys go off, etc etc and nobody else wakes up!!
My favorite LOST trope "Oh my god what happend, what did you see" "that's not important right now, we need to go..." followed by second favorite LOST trope A character gets a concussion every episode by hit to head.
Speaking of drinking, so many times TV/film characters have a drink in their hand (mostly coffee) and clearly nothing is in the cup. They take a fake sip and clearly don't bother gulping. At least put water in your cup! Also how they walk or balance holding something else in their other hand and you see the cup is virtually weightless since it's empty.
lmao, its always so noticeable to me now. i guess cuz all the takes they're doing they don't wanna be running to the restroom after drinking so much water (or anything else they'd put in it) but yeah, fake sips are so distracting
This is mostly for continuity. If they need to go back and shoot edits, they don't need to fill the water back up to the same level. There's some movies out there that take place at a bar or something and you'll see the glass move up and down between cuts.
They do such a bad job at pretending there's anything in the cups though...like every single actor is bad at it.
