    This looks fantastic

    Via Pitchfork:

Killer Mike is getting his own TV show: “Trigger Warning With Killer Mike” debuts on Netflix on January 18. Watch the trailer below. In a statement, Mike writes, “‘Trigger Warning’ is about examining cultural taboos and giving viewers the space to examine the ‘what ifs’ and ‘why nots’ that limit how some people move and operate in the world.”

He continues, “In six episodes, we explore the human condition using nontraditional approaches. Not everyone will agree with my methods (and some of what we’re putting out is fucking crazy), but this show is about embracing your freedom to challenge societal expectations and conformity. This show is if an anarchist determined the status quo.”

    Episode 3 is hilarious.

"Fuck around with this drink here, you might see a goddamn little Ethiopian, goddamn way over there goddamn sipping over this motherfucker, goddamn in the middle east of something... Crip-a-Cola."

Really enjoying this, but some of the writing feels really weird.

We talked about it in another thread, but I definitely agree about the NFY vibes. I couldn't help but think of Orphaned Skies any time Mario was on screen.

Mario is so painful to watch. Hard to believe it's a real person.

I agree that some of this does come off as a skit for pure entertainment (with some underlying truths) but then again it’s a Netflix show.

I've only seen the first two episodes and that's the vibe I got and wasn't sure if I wanted to go forward because of it. Does it get any better?

80% of the Black Jesus episode feels like a skit. It starts good but after the 5-minute mark, it doesn't seem to take itself as seriously. I wish it did because I think the topic of not exclusively portraying Jesus as a white man is important.

No, it's more of the same. Don't get me wrong, I find it hilarious. But as other said it's very NFY and seems very staged.

Yes. Keep watching. I was kinda "eh" after the first two, and I'll admit that some of the show feels a little scripted/forced, but overall I feel like there's enough authenticity to still make it feel like a documentary. Plus I kinda liked how they used the writing to pull it all together at the end. Besides you only have like 90 minutes worth of show left. Not too much time to lose...

edit: and episode 3 is possibly the best one, so at least give it a shot.

I loved it, although what has been said above, that an awful lot of this must have been scripted. The finale was amazing though. Glad they built everything in the season to that.

episodes 1, 3, 5 were the best for me and episodes 2, 4, 6 ranged from mediocre to pretty awful.

I’ve only watched the first two, but it was pretty clear from the difference in their quality that he’s put a lot more thought into some topics than others.
