The only thing they didn't do was pause the movie so the characters look at the audience and ask if we got the meaning. Foreign directors switching to English have a bad habit of beating their message to death.
Thought this was a pretty funny satire, even if it was extremely on the nose. The New Noise needle drop was hilariously incredible, and the acting was pretty solid. Felt way too long and the pacing was suspect, like it didn’t want to lean too far into the tense, absurdist aspects. Almost felt a bit like a yorgos lanthimos film, but worse imo
I’m at a complete loss as to what about this movie anyone found insightful, or biting, or well written, or funny. Just so lazily shallow, and then parts 2 and 3 felt as if the director felt he had some quota to fill and drag each out an extra ~30min despite having nothing to fill it with.
we had to watch with subtitles due to missing out on so many lines and this was the best one… (Diarrhea flows) When the guest is… yeah, on the toilet, then pukes at the same time after the captains dinner
Just watched this. Pretty unhinged but enjoyable. I get the subtlety criticisms but it didn’t bother me all that much. Thought it was still a pretty worthwhile watch.
Ostlund is the director. I would much rather watch a movie with a bunch of "bad" or unknown actors and a good director than a "great" cast with a bad director.
Ostlund is a hack but they didn't have in-flight entertainment on my flight on Saturday and I was also really sad.
