I spent a few hours there years ago so I only got a taste. A three day weekend would be nice but I'm not sure if it's in the cards this year. Even for Americans SF is insane. I don't know anything about Canadian currency but I'm guessing it's worth less in the US?
Yeah, what he said. Right now we're looking at paying around $650 for $500 USD. Mind you, most things are still cheaper in the States and you guys also pay way less tax on everything, but still.
Got a $1000 voucher from Delta the other day for taking a later flight, and my wife and I want to use it to take a long weekend somewhere. Probably leave Thursday night, come back Sunday night/Monday morning type of thing. Looking for ideas on where to go. Because I travel all the time for work, we want to go someplace that I DONT go for work, so I'll list all those places. NYC Philly DC Baltimore Orlando Miami Seattle Portland San Francisco LA Vegas Phoenix So that being said, the only place we've come up with so far is Denver. Any other ideas?
Got a weekend in San Francisco booked for December and probably a weekend in San Diego in November. Going with some family to split the hotel cost. Excited for both but I'm thinking SF deserves more than a Sat/Sun.
Still missing out on flights because I can't get the people I'm going with to make a decision. This is exactly why I prefer traveling alone.
traveling with other people sucks. brought a bunch of my family to vegas this summer and it felt like half the trip was spent arguing about what to do.
I'm dreading what's going to happen when we get into the city. I thought it would be nice to have company but so far this has been a pain in the ass. I need to be more l comfortable eating and drinking alone so I don't have to deal with this in the future.
So many pretty colors in those landscapes! I traded San Diego for Denver so I can see Anthony Bourdain's Hunger Tour. It'll be my first time flying. So excited.
What's there to do in Denver that isn't cheesy? So far all I have is walking around, checking out some parks, and a museum or two.
There's a really cool speakeasy called Green Russel downtown. It has some great food and drinks there. I'd say check it out if you get the chance
I'm trying to prep myself to go into bars alone. That's uncharted territory for me. I'd love to go to the mountains hit it's going to be in November. I wasnt planning on renting a car, either.
That's what I'm worried about haha. Friday/Saturday night isn't the best time but that's all I have to work with.
You should try going to a bar that serves food too. Sit at the bar and eat a meal alone. I really enjoy doing that when I'm travelling. Might make you more comfortable than just sitting alone and drinking.
I kind of want to bar hop a little since it combines alcohol with walking around a new city. I could always get something at my hotel and then head out but that's not as interesting as visiting a unique bar. I'll probably go out once or twice beforehand to get more comfortable with the whole process, as ridiculous as that might sound.
Yeah, I'd do some research online, say on tripadvisor (yelp has the worst reviewers imho), and go bar-hopping. sounds like a good time.
Got a sweet discount on a nice, carry-on duffel bag. I shouldn't be this excited about it but it ultimately means travels are about to happen. Here's a random picture of Panama City.
just went to belize and it was pretty cool. definitely was different for me cause i stayed in a village (hopkins) where the locals were very poor and it was relatively undeveloped but it was very interesting. all the infrastructures were basically sheds. everyone was super nice and couldn't beat the price of things there. could be drunk on 10-15 US dollars probably. the food was good, like homecooked meals when eating in the village. loved all the fresh ingredients like the citrus that grows everywhere in the country. floated inside of a cave on a tube, which was pretty cool. hiked a lot and saw some waterfalls. all in all a interesting trip although i'd probably not go back to belize again as i didnt find a whole lot to do besides what i already did. and the village roads were crazy filled with holes. Video explains better and in reality this wasnt even that bad in comparison to some other spots.
