This is maybe not the flex it used to be, but for a time it was true: I saw Lizzo at Subterranean twice.
I was at The Used's first show after getting signed, at a tiny venue in a strip mall. Mid song, Bert threw up on the stage, Quinn took off his guitar and dropped it into the puddle of puke, jumped on the guitar, and then picked it back up and kept playing... All mid song. My mind was absolutely blown. I saw Taking Back Sunday, Brand New, and Rufio all play together at that same venue. It was obviously before the TBS/BN fallout. It was right after both of their first albums had come out. I was working the door at that show and had to save TBS Eddie from the venue owner's 3 year old son who was hitting him super hard with a toy lightsaber. I also saw Fall Out Boy at that venue in the TTYG era. I saw Run The Jewels play a free show in the basement of a restaurant during the Sundance Film Festival right around when RTJ2 came out. The stage was like a foot off the ground, and maybe 100 people were there. Including Pauly Shore. I saw Paramore at a bowling alley in Las Vegas right around when the first album came out. I saw Julien Baker at a 150 cap venue a few years ago. That's all that comes to mind right now. But yeah, cool shows back in the day!
Just now finding out about this thread and I have to gush about seeing Paul McCartney at Bowery Ballroom last year. Truly insane stuff. That said I was reading this from the top and whoever saw Alex G open for Title Fight is insanely lucky
Top of my head and I might be missing some stuff here. Finch/The Used/Movielife/MCR in 2003 at Agora Cleveland NFG/Finch/Something Corporate/Further Seems Forever in 2002 at Agora Sum 41/No Use For A Name/The Starting Line in 2004 at Agora Something Corporate/Straylight Run in 2004 at HOB Cleveland a bunch of those $5-10 MTV shows at the Rock Hall in 2002-2003 too. Good Charlotte, NFG, Sun 41, Avril, NERD, Our Lady Peace, POD, Linkin Park.
Fall Out Boy supporting (!!!) Mest at a c. 300 person venue in the UK pre-FUCT is my brag. 2nd is Jason Mraz in the CD section of Borders books before I'm Yours was officially released, 05 or 06.
I got lucky and saw Wilco doing a record release set at Rough Trade in 2016 when Schmilco came out - thought they'd just be doing like three acoustic numbers, but they did a full band hour to maybe 200 people. Angel Olsen also came to my college during the release of BYFFNW but the show for whatever reason was on Halloween, which was terrible for a college crowd, so no one was there - maybe thirty of us. Kendrick also came a few weeks before GKMC came out - a lot of people there, still, but obviously nothing near what it would be like even a few months later. Was supposed to see fun. open for Motion City Soundtrack pre-Some Nights but Nate got sick, so they didn't play, but caught them at a fairly small venue a few weeks before Some Nights came out.
I didn't attend but browsing Person L's concert history on Concert Archives, I saw they opened for Saosin, TDWP and Underoath back in 2008 in Cincy. Sad I didn't pay much attention to tours when I was 16. That would've been an insane night.
I saw that but POS opened. I saw person L open for I can make a mess like nobody’s business and Copeland on the “final” Copeland tour.
Wonder if Cincy was a one-off or something because most sites announcing that tour only had P.O.S. listed besides this poster and maybe one other site.
