Ugh... "We'll be back so soon!" is what all bands tend to say, but most major acts tend to not follow through w/ their promises, especially for smaller venues.
On a slightly more positive tip: Have any artists cancelled a tour, festival appearance, or whatever and then got replaced by somebody that was actually an upgrade for you? You were excited about the original band but the replacement was infinitely better for one reason or another? Mine would be the Fest in 2011. Lifetime were one of the headliners and backed out like two weeks before... But they got replaced by Kid Dynamite! I'd seen Lifetime twice before and kinda assumed I'd never get to see KD so it was a massive plus. Haha. And the setlist was 11/10 with no notes.
The closest they ever got was playing at the Santa Barbara Bowl last year, which I couldn’t make (since I don’t really live in the area anymore). And they’re playing SB again at a smaller venue on their tour this fall (which I likely can’t pull off either) And every time they’ve played the LA area the last few years, I wasn’t able to go I am convinced I’ll never be able to see them.
In 2009, the Blink/Weezer/TBS Cleveland show was postponed due to the DJ AM death so when Blink came back a few months later for a reschedule it was without Weezer and TBS and I was bummed. The 2020 Foo Fighters Cleveland tour date I had tickets to was cancelled and never rescheduled and same with Brian Fallon too. I think all the other shows I had tickets to during that Covid stint were eventually rescheduled.
I think the only COVID losses I had were Caspian on the On Circles run and Deafheaven had a 10 year, career spanning tour they were going to do. I’ve also had Morrissey cancel on me twice. Most of the time, if a show gets cancelled, it helps me not feel FOMO because it wasn’t my fault i missed the show haha
rage against the machine and the beastie boys…rhyme and reason tour…August 2000 no doubt was the opener for the show I was going to in Detroit. Mike D broke his arm on a bike accident and the whole tour was cancelled.
Charli XCX and Bleachers in 2015. Don't really care about Bleachers but I was very excited to see Charli and then she cancelled the second half of that tour
Oh yeah you just reminded me I went to a cancelled Morrissey show. I was in attendance of his infamous “the on-stage heater wasn’t working” show in 2017
It was such a wild lineup…no doubt, queens of the stone age, Jurassic 5, busta rhymes, at the drive-in, and common all had opening spots as well.
Hayley Williams is my only real 2020 loss. All of the other shows have happened in some capacity. A few weeks back I would have also said The Format but I’m seeing that one too now
The show in Orange is literally happening in a small record stand tucked inside of a coffee shop. I go to that coffee shop often and had no idea they did shows (or maybe this is a new thing?). That will be super cool.
So many 2020 tours lost, but I remember the biggest bummer for me was the cancelled Parkway Drive/Hatebreed/Knocked Loose/Fit For A King tour. Supposed to be Parkways first run in the states with their pyro setup. Sacramento was the first stop. Forever bummed about that one.
Love this band and hope this tour is a success so spreading the word, just got my tickets They seem to have really blown up on spotify via monthly numbers since the last time I saw them.
