Looks like Bonnaroo didn’t even clear 40k tickets for the year…and people are reporting the merch available is all AI generated. Live Nation, somehow in less than a decade, turned the closest thing to a US version of Glastonbury into Lollapalooza on a farm, so disappointing.
Makes me upset that I missed the golden years of the festival, but also fine knowing it’s one less festival I can take into consideration down the road while prioritizing others. Plus, a number of acts usually hit the area I live in the days around the festival.
AI merch is obviously awful and I doubt they'll make much money off of it. Iirc they lowered capacity due to the renovations but if they didn't even meet that goal then that's bad but not surprising considering the lineup. I think the most positive things I've seen about this year are "it's not that bad, guys" or "the bad selling years are still super fun" but that's from people who go every year because of the culture associated with the festival. Maybe they should have booked Tame Impala after all.
This is a pretty big step up for this event, as far as I know, they've never brought in like actual touring acts for it, just cover bands like 7th Heaven. I've never been but I've always heard it's a pretty fun time so maybe I'll check it out this year.
Yeah, my friend's band played last year, they are a Linkin Park cover band. They are based in California, though.
My villain arc starts with The Callous Daoboys never coming to the PNW. I have the potential for a redemption arc if they play I Don't Want to See You In Heaven in full before the touring cycle for the album ends and they hit up Portland.
