I suggested a "Party Down" group costume, let her know there was a stage that was 100% ska, and we were booking flights in minutes.
Could've sworn I read somewhere that a new album was in the works. A 2027 album and tour makes lots of sense
If people didn't spend the entire show recording it then maybe Yondr pouches and phone free shows wouldn't need to be a thing. Like sure I get taking a photo or two or maybe a 60 second video clip to post on socials, but brother why are people needing to bring in full on portable chargers for a 2.5-3 hour show (hint it's because you're literally recording entire sets)? And the "I'm doing this to look back on for memories" excuse is so bogus. When was the last time you looked at photos/videos from a show from 5-10 years ago, let alone one that happened 1-3 years ago? You MAYBE go back in the first 6 or so months and look back but then it just stays in your camera roll taking up space. And for this crowd especially it makes sense. The one time I saw Boygenius it was actually incredible how many phones were out for the entire show.
Phone free show would make me anxious that an emergency happens and my family would need to get ahold of me but couldn’t.
I've done phone-free shows for Dave Chappelle and Jack White in the past and when the show was over the world kept turning
Back before yondr pouches advance movie screenings made you leave your phone in the lobby at a check in. So I’ll take a yondr pouch any day.
This is a case where two things can be true at the same time - it is both stupid on the part of the artist and an overreaction on behalf of those commenting
