Her coachella set was gorgeous…perfect vibe, and the Arlo Parks cover was cute. She was pretty good at OSL too, much rather catch her on a festival bill than shell out $175 for an arena solo show.
Hopefully someone recreates my Pitchfork 2021 memory of a guy puking loud enough during her set she heard it.
Not sure how him seemingly making no effort to give his fans a proper performance for "a long time" excuses him... I'd agree with the previous post, TBS's live shows have been laughably bad and its solely on Adam.
i don't think the issue is so much about excusing him for "always being bad live" as it is the assumption that it's due to substance abuse problems
Adam has always been bad live but it's never impacted my experience. I am there to have fun and sing loudly – that's the whole ethos of early TBS and it's still true now.
The Live Earth performance in 2007 was just so dismal and a real shame since that was televised to a global audience.
Barbarians of California dates popping up, havent seen a poster with all dates, but they are on their website already. If anyone sees a presale code please pass it along. seen them 2 times so far - once opening for deftones, once at riot fest, so now getting to see them in a 340 cap venue with no barricade is going to be insane. edit: code is MEGATONS (at Least for the STL date)
I mean, even if it is a substance abuse issue, why keep trotting him out there for 100 shows a year rather than encouraging him to get help? Whether its substance abuse or lack of interest, he shouldn't be performing so the effect is the same.
Obviously, if he is having substance abuse issues then yes, his bandmates and friends should be trying to get him help. What folks are saying here is simply that the assumption that it's substance abuse is an odd thing to jump to. Suggesting that a person is having struggles with addiction has very different connotations than suggesting that an artist is disinterested, has fallen off vocally, etc.
Guys it’s not that serious. Some people still find them enjoyable live, they do sound better now with Fred kicking them into shape, and Adam is far from the worst live singer still active from that era. Either have fun and sing along or skip them. It’s not a humanitarian crisis that needs intervention, nor is it appropriate to jump to that he’s drugged out of his mind
