People can talk crap on Hawthorne Heights all they want, but at least they have a solid discography and 2 albums to overplay on anniversary tours. RJA has done nothing of note outside of the first album and somehow still survives on it lol
Didn't Red Jumpsuit open and close with Face Down at festivals at one point so they knew people that only caught one half of the set would be able to see it? That should tell you everything you need to know about the band lol.
What else is that singer going to do with his life? At a certain point, you just gotta commit to the bit
As someone who has recently moved from Ireland to Portland, it feels like the venues are already here, the challenge is attracting the bands. It reminds me a bit of Ireland, where we also have great venues, but it can be difficult to bring in bands because of the costs involved.
Not sure how hard they lean into it but up through 2018 they were pushing songs to Christian Rock radio and have apparently had SEVEN #1 hits on that format starting with "Face Down" in 2006.
I didn't even know Christian rock radio is a thing but that's what I get for being a coastal elite. What's the top Christian rock station in the country?
KROSS. JK. I have no idea. I met a kid once when I was in college who was like, 21 and still only "allowed" to listen to Switchfoot and the first two MxPx albums for modern music. I pay as little attention to that part of the music world as possible. The only reason I know this is because RJA pops up so much here and on emo nostalgia festivals that I looked them up to see how exactly they are still active with that one hit. LOL
If you're interested, there was a really interesting expose by Rolling Stone a few years back (below). TLDR, these Christian organizations buy up FM stations, claim non-profit status and basically use the "word of the Lord" to extort their listeners to raise funds and, in turn, make the station owners rich while not having to adhere to the same regulations that commercials stations do: Why is the Radio Full of Christian Rock? Thank This Non-Profit
Red Jumpsuit Apparatus was my favorite band for about 5 weeks when I was in middle school, put some respect on their name please
Hayley Williams said she’ll be back in Baltimore during tonight’s show. Assuming that means she’s a lock for All Things Go Maryland, and likely NYC too.
I'm far less bullish about her popping on Riot Fest if she's doing festivals like ATG and Newport Folk. All due respect to Riot, it feels like she's shooting for something different at the moment. That said, I'm sure they asked and I would very very happy to be wrong.
