Had a similar issue. Was trying to list a ticket at what I bought for but due to the fees, I had to list it slightly higher. They still take less than SH/Vivid but it's irritating.
It's too bad smaller bands can't just sell concert tickets through their own merch stores, cutting out Ticketmaster altogether.
honestly, i miss those days of waiting outside the venue to buy tickets. even one of our local grocery stores sold concert tickets from the customer service counter, which was great. it's less convenient, sure, but i'd rather wait in a line than pay over 25% more than the ticket's face value for the "convenience" of buying online.
How have they done it again? Every year, this festival knocks it out the park lineup wise. Can’t wait to go.
When Avail did their first limited run of reunion shows there was no on-line sale. You had to drop by the venue to get them. I don't know that I'd want to do that regularly but it was honestly pretty fun waiting in line with everyone else who was just as, if not more, excited than I was. There were still fees but less-so than online and it made it feel like a moment. Plus: I wasn't stressing about the line because I knew the venue capacity and saw how many people ahead of me there was. So I knew I was in the clear. But that was for a 1.5k venue. I can't imagine doing that kind of thing for a stadium or arena show would be very smooth. Not in this day and age. Dorks would be camping out days in advance and leveraging it for bragging rights or Avenged Sevenfold cryptocurrency or whatever the fuck.
I went to sell a couple tickets for a show I can't go to and they won't even let me list them. Only option is to take what they will pay me which is $14 (for a $37.50 ticket) so I just kept them. Fuck TM, not letting them get the extra dollars from another person.
I get that branding is a huge aspect of it and all, but wasn't the whole appeal of Ozzfest that it was headlined by Ozzy or Sabbath? Like sure I'm sure they can throw a Metallica, Slayer, or Pantera on as the headliner and it'll sell well, but like I feel like that would sell well no matter the name as long as the lineup was curated well. Like is the Ozzfest name really going to bump up ticket prices that much without Ozzy or Sabbath that it's going to be worth buying the name?
I think there’s enough nostalgia attached to the name that it’ll work. Would do better than launching a new metal/rock festival. Plus, it can maybe be a way to continue honoring Ozzy’s legacy.
Some updates on future tour dates worldwide and some specific US locations (Atlanta, NJ) via Thursday's socials:
Honestly it would be pretty sick if instead of Ozzy headlining it was just every band from the fest covering an Ozzy/Sabbath song.
If Ozzfest is to return, I could see there being like an Ozzy tribute jam. Where members of each band on the lineup covering Ozzy/Black Sabbath songs together
lol get real metallica would never do this i would put my money on slayer, "pantera" or priest to headline. depending on their current standing with sharon, SOAD maybe, but thats probably pushing it financially. now that zakk sabbath exists I would not be shocked if they just became the default direct support for however long it exists again (BLS was basically on every ozzfest)
I would say the appeal as time went on was more the party like atmosphere of the second stage and the younger up and coming bands.
Went to Ozzfest during peak nu metal years 2001-03. Definitely some not good vibes the years I went but I imagine times have changed.
Got an email saying that the event is now canceled and I will be getting a refund... Tbh I wasn't a big fan of their setlist for the last few shows so I'm not too bummed
