Just got a notification from Bandsintown about Basement playing Chicago next month... Only to find out it's a band called The Basement Party. Bandsintown pulled a Spotify on me.

Crazy Addison Rae is playing such small venues. I get it’s her first tour but the demand is absolutely insane. One of the shows had 84k people in the queue.

Just looked and saw that she's not trying for the Cajundome here where she was born. It's like 13k capacity she could probably pull it off.

If she continues to make music and tour I could see the next tour being arenas tbh

throwing a tik tok star, who has never performed a live show before, into an arena right away sounds like a bad idea.

You used to have to work your way up to arenas (unless you were Taylor Swift) and now artists are arena popular after one album (Addison Rae) or one hit (Benson Boone) and it’s crazy.

You see this a lot in hip hop too. Rappers will get big off a soundcloud drop and are expected to work a huge crowd despite only having a handful of shows under their belt (if that).

Part of the reason I think Addison should do the Cajundome is because it can be a test run to see if she can pull it off. I'm confident that she can at least for a one off.

Playing huge arenas or amphitheaters with only one album would be a bad move. She has less than 50 min worth of music. Olivia Rodrigo had the same problem with her first tour and played similar venues. After she dropped her 2nd album she made the jump to arenas where she’s playing an hour and a half and is now headlining some of the biggest fests in the world. Don’t know if addison can do the same thing tho.

Yeah, I remember getting tickets to that first Olivia tour was an impossible task and fans were complaining on why she didnt play arenas, and she mentioned in interviews that she didnt want to skip any steps in the process

watching a mega artist grow in real time is so fun, my favorite personal example is MCR. seen them 7 times, and every single time they leveled up

-headliner in small club ( @ the creepy crawl, static lullaby opened )
-mid day main stage @ warped
-co-headlining 2K theater (taste of chaos)
-Direct support green days american idiot stadium tour
    -co-headlining linkin parks project revolution
-headling riot fest in their massive return after hiatus

Linkin Park opening for P.O.D to headlining arenas on the very same album cycle was wild

Looks like Boston Calling is taking next year off but they've already set dates for 2027. Curious as to the rationale, if it had anything to do with attendance this year, if they already know they can't find headliners, etc. Kinda telling that they bumped it out the weekend after memorial day.

From things bands said at the Less Than Jake show here in Boston last night: The Suicide Machines are going to be a 30th anniversary tour next year for Destruction By Definition. And Less Than Jake is already looking into making the "Summer Circus" tour an annual thing. Would be real curious to see who winds up opening on future runs.

Probably less than stellar ticket sales and costs. Unless you have slam dunk headliners (Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, etc) I think these general fests are becoming tougher and tougher sells.

I havent followed any bands from infancy to fame cuz most bands i like dont reach that level. Ive seen Mannequin Pussy grow over the years, from being shunned as an opener for Turnover in 2018 to where they are now.
Also saw Amyl and the Sniffers in the US pre covid in a small punk bar. That wont happen again anytime soon.

I've seen Mannequin Pussy a whole bunch over the years and was blown away by the crowd response (and stage presence!) when I saw them at Something in the Way back in February.

They were always pretty okay live but this was a whole different energy level. They're gonna go do amazing on that Turnstile tour, I think. That band deserves the world!
