Unfortunately some bands just need to do the anniversary tours to pay the bills. Look at Armor for Sleep; whenever they do a WTDWYD tour they'll headline (and sell out) a 2k cap venue by me. But when they arent doing an album play, they are the first of two opening acts for another band at that same venue.

Truth be told a Full Collapse album play will get me to go to a Thursday headliner for the first time since 2017.

Plus that album is 10 songs long? You’d think they could do at least 5 more if not maybe 10 more songs potentially.

id love to see them go full mewithoutyou and just learn their whole discography so they could like rotate the 6 songs every night

I did just see Thursday play "Full Collapse" in full in 2022 on a headlining run.

Thursday's fanbase is an odd one. I'd say there's a solid 70% of people who want stuff from Full Collapse plus "the hits." And the rest are the ones that want a mix of everything.

So I really don't blame them for leaning into it. Especially since they seem to be truly appreciative of the love that album gets. But I also find it really disheartening that it's what they have to do to pack a room. Because they're so much better than just recycling that same album play every few years.

That said, I'll probably line up for this one as I've weirdly never seen them play it before!

I believe it was in Warren. And it's the one time they came around here I didn't go to see them and of course it was the first time in 15 years they had played Autumn Leaves Revisited. I was so angry I missed that.

I forgot I'm seeing Thursday open for Silverstein in a few weeks. They'll probably lean heavy into FC and WATT but at least there should be a mix of stuff seeing it's an opening slot.

I think a good part of why Thursday tours Full Collapse and War All The Time so hard is that they were more or less dormant for years. They disbanded in 2012 and got back together sporadically a few times but it took them 13 years to release a new song. They're primarily a touring band at this point and those later albums weren't really well received, so they're going to play the songs that people actually know and supported. As a fan, I'd love to hear them play more than just the hits but they're in a weird spot where they're not really getting any new fans and can't fill bigger venues unless they play the stuff people know.

Also, not to triple post, but I believe I have posted this in the Thursday thread before, but it's almost better to see Thursday in an opening slot. For starters, their headlining set isn't much longer than their opening set (maybe a 3-4 song difference?) and there are typically better vibes in the venue since it's more packed. Feel like Thursday is the perfect opener because there's a lot of fans who like, but don't love, Thursday, and wouldn't pay to see them headline, but would gladly check them out as the opener for the headliner that they paid for - if that makes sense.

The Ataris are very weird in that regard! Because even when they don't do a tour for that record... The set list is like, 80% songs from that album anyway. Which seems to bum out a lot of people in the room.

I get that it's their biggest record and I'd expect them to lean in that direction. But... Throw people a bone and slot in a few songs from the other records other than just "San Dimas" and "Your Boyfriend Sucks," y'know? End Is Forever is criminally ignored.

More bands should do what Bruce Springsteen does and take requests mid show, including deep cuts.

I'd love this, but (and it's weird to say this since Bruce has a much larger catalog than most bands) it's gotta be difficult for a band to basically memorize every song on their discography and be able to pull it out at any given moment. It's much easier to rehearse an hour-hour and a half set, relearn the songs you forgot and call it a day until the next one. How Bruce (and the entire E Street Band for that matter) do it is actually astounding.
