If you see a spot open up I'm all for taking your opportunity. My big gripe is someone leaving to go to the bathroom/get a drink/etc and then being pissed when they can't get back up/get their exact same spot. Like sorry dude should have taken care of your needs before hand (plus it's my opinion you shouldn't be drinking deep in the crowd at a GA show anyways. I don't want to be sticky and smell like alcohol because you can't go a few hours without an $18 beer and it got spilled when a pit opened up).

I definitely prefer to sit in the balcony or the back of the crowd the older I get. Luckily most Portland venues have started selling Balcony tickets post covid to make more money and my old ass will definitely pay for the luxury. I also just can’t stand drunk people talking loud as fuck so GA is a no go for me.

My favorite venue in Portland has the best layout ever. 21+ floor with an all ages balcony that has GA seating. Leads up 99 percent of the drunk assholes being down on the floor because the venue is super strict about not letting people sit in areas they don’t have tickets for.

I've always been a "back of the middle of the crowd" guy and that's never changed. At certain shows I'll get closer to the front but that's usually in much smaller venues that aren't very packed.

And proud to say that, even at 41, I'm still down for the full show. And I honestly find it harder to leave the house for just a single act (headliner or not) so I usually go for the full show regardless. But I also dig into any acts on the bill in advance to see if I like them or not. And I kinda fucking love it. I've found so many awesome new bands by looking at online ad mats for bands I like and checking out the openers.

Openers definitely depends on the bill. If it’s just one opener, I’ll probably show up for them. If it’s a 3-5 band bill, it really depends on how many bands I enjoy on the bill. I can’t sit through multiple artists I don’t really care about. The Hot Mulligan, Silverstein and Senses Fail/SOTY bills this fall are the pretty rare show where I’m a big fan of all of the bands on the shows.

I used to obsess about finding the best spot for a show (usually a few rows behind the last few rows near the stage) but the last few years I'm just trying to find a spot that isn't too crowded where I can just have fun and jump around with some space around me.

I'm 6'1 so usually finding a good spot wasn't too hard.

I just always go to left of the stage and get pretty close even late because everyone loves the middle and the right of stage for whatever reason

Man I used to love being in front and being drenched in sweat after a show....now I can barely stand for a show that's more than 90 minutes (I wonder if these two things are related)

Daily line-ups and tickets for Something in the Way dropping on Friday! Might wind up getting a single day if the right bands are on the same day.

As a fellow 6'1 guy, most spots are fine with me. I'm usually getting complaints from people behind me though.

Don’t have the money to do Vegas right now but No Doubt is still a top tier live act, that Coachella set was unreal a few years ago.

If tickets are under $200 I’d say that’s a pretty decent value. I saw U2 at the sphere and its worth doing at least once, wish I had waited as some of these more recent residencies there are doing crazy stuff with the visuals.
