When it is a tour announcement but the closest West Coast date is still a 14 hour drive away from me:

Real curious who the redacted names for State Champs are, but that's a fun one with Origami Angel and Just Friends in LA.

Has anybody else's local venues started posting "camping policies" the day ahead of certain shows? I've seen this a few times recently for the Boston HOB.

It's one of those things I just never think about but... Apparently it's a problem?

    idk man

I've seen these at arenas but never for mid sized acts like the ones for House of Blues. Is there anyone performing there that would warrant this?

HOB is the only spot I've seen it in around here... Which is partially why I asked! This is for Gigi Perez and the show is mostly all sold out (still a few balcony).

I'm guessing it has more to do with the veracity of the fanbase more than the overall "size" of the artist.

I've seen that for a few arenas/stadiums but never for venues that are within city limits. In NYC, we have people already sleeping on the streets every night so I suppose you can't disallow camping (shrug).

Def seen it for arenas/arena acts (Taylor and Billie Eilish were big ones), but usually unless it's someone huge doing a major downplay or rabid fanbase I wouldn't really expect anyone camping out the day+ before the show at a HOB type venue.

Sleep Token at red rocks had a 5am line for like 7pm doors and when I got there at 6 (which I'd done before for red rocks), it was quite a line and we ended up being pretty far back, which is fine for that venue though.

I also live next door to a concert venue and i can 100% tell if it's a gen z show if people are lining up early in the the day, and if hours before showtime, the line wraps my street. Sold out shows that have a fan base in their 30's? There's never a line. I also don't think that young people realize that with general admission in a concert hall, just because you get in first, you're not going to remain first. People will come in late, crowds will merge, you will have to fight hard to save your place in a wide open concert floor. It's not like a festival where you can hug the railing. Also, for a good venue, you can see anywhere, the sound is better further back etc. It's a habit I've never understood.

EDIT - The extreme earliness i mean, like hours before doors. As a teenager we'd always be on time, MAYBE an hour early.

Had the same experience at the Brooklyn Paramount! When I went to go see Snow Patrol, Belle & Sebastian, The Decemberists, Jack White, etc. there was NO line. Going to see Charli XCX, Inhaler and FLO....stood in a 30 min line.

The most extreme fanbase I know for camping before a show is definetly Twenty One Pilots.
