I imagine the Sum 41 US shows will be in similar venues that their co-headliner with Simple Plan was. Pier 17, as an example, would be perfect for the NYC date

Now that Sum 41 has an expiration date, their demand is WAY higher, especially with The Interrupters, a band that's done summer coheadliners with established punk bands. It's gotta be smaller amphitheaters.

    Things have changed.

The Interrupters are not a major draw of any real note for a tour like this.

Considering this will be Sum 41’s final tour, I can see them pulling some larger venues than they normally would. But I don’t see them doing anything larger than maybe some medium-large-ish auditoriums. Or some outdoor GA venues

I think it’s gonna aim in that 5k-10k area.

So is Sum 41 doing this tour and then a final tour I’m assuming? Would be odd to have your farewell tour to be a coheadliner, but it’s also weird to do a coheadliner before a farewell tour? That’s the only confusing thing about this rumored tour.

Did anyone ever say it was a coheadliner?

Sum 41 are a way bigger band than The Interrupters by every metric, it'd be baffling if they co-headlined.

Probably not the END end, but I imagine they won't tour for a while.

I feel like The Interrupters will be direct support, and then there’ll be 1-2 more openers

I wouldn’t say way bigger. They play similar venues. Last two Summers The Interrupters did a coheadliner with Frank Turner and Flogging Molly. Before that they opened the Hella Mega tour. They definitely are a pretty big band.

I’m just remembering that Sum 41 is playing Rockville in May so I’m wondering if there will even be any other Florida dates. The sheds (Tampa/West Palm) might be too big. Jacksonville might be possible depending on how big of a radius clause Rockville has.

The tour being announced tomorrow didn’t give us nearly enough time to debate what type of venues these bands can plan, but at least we will have time to debate if they can sell tickets to the venues announced.

    Things have changed.

The co-bill with Flogging Molly was EXTREMELY undersold in many markets. And I wouldn't use playing to a 1/5 full stadium at 5 p.m. as any metric of drawing power. They had an actual undeniable hit, but they don't really move the needle in terms of selling tickets. Sum 41 does.

I get that, but Sum 41 also hasn’t done huge tours recently either. The Offspring tour half filled Sheds and the Simple Plan coheadliner sold out a lot of venues either band could sell out themselves. For example The Interrupters sold out the same venue that Simple Plan/Sun 41 sold out here by themselves. I’m moreso saying both bands play 2000-3000 cap clubs in most markets when they headline. It’s not like Sum 41 plays or sells out bigger venues than The Interrupters.

I took a break from this thread for the almost three weeks for the holiday to come back and see: new year, same shit. “They’ll play these [type] of venues!” “No way they can fill this [type] of venue!” Here’s to another year of the senseless, laughable, entertaining, cringe, very woke thread. I hope every one had a great holiday season. Let’s get these announcements rollin’, baby.
