haha same. the Olivia show I saw def had an average of like 15-16 besides the parents. very weird dynamic for the breeders, it was dead silent during their set except for a bit of polite applause lol.

 

yeah I found my little old man “side stage” spot (not really a stage at the venue they played.

 

I'm 43 and I still do head walking

 

I'm 41 and still go to shows regularly. I just expect to be the old guy in the crowd though, given we're an industry city, I'm not usually the absolute oldest there.

 

I'm 32 and have shifted more to going to movies more than shows, but I'm fast approaching show season. Regardless though, you'll mostly see me in the back since I'm tall and feeble.

 

I'm 40 and one of the cooler things about the current "scene" is that so much of the newer music inherently appeals to older folks while doing something slightly different with it... I feel like I might be the oldest person in the room at certain shows, but if I look around and really look? It's not by much or there's a handful of other people in my age bracket toward the back.
And seeing the younger people go off always makes me so happy.

This really hit for me at Something in the Way Fest. I went with a friend who doesn't really go to shows anymore and about two sets into the day he turned to me and asked: "Why is everybody here either 21 or 50?" He was being hyperbolic but also not that far off! And it makes sense. Anxious reminds me of Jimmy Eat World. One Step Closer reminds me of the melodic hardcore I played on my radio show in college. Mannequin Pussy, Militarie Gun, Dazy, Gouge Away, and MSPaint have shades of 90s rock put through a more energetic filter and a contemporary perspective.

And that's honestly way more comfortable for me than a lot of the "bigger" shows people talk about here.

Totally agree. Even today my most listened to albums of the year so far are stuff I've been listening to for at least 20 years aside from one or two.

I've never felt as out of place at a gig as i did during the A Brief History show i went to in January 2019 when I was 33.
