The Mars Volta putting 18,000 people to sleep right now at MSG. Was initially pumped for them to open this Deftones tour but this whole sleepy new album set was a bad choice.

 

I came into the thread to say that I enjoyed the hell out of that (also at Deftones!) but completely understand why it might not be everyone's cup of tea.

 

I just wish they sprinkled a few of their well known songs into the set. In an intimate setting maybe it would’ve worked, but being surrounded by thousands of people yawning and chatting really killed the vibe.

Deftones on the other hand absolutely killed! That set was all killer no filler. Had to dip out after Minerva to catch my train but I can’t remember the last time I had that much fun during a show

 

deftones fucking ripped and the sound is never that good at MSG
