Already having Four Chord FOMO cause I'll probably still be hiking the PCT come September 13.

Edit: I also would expect day 1 to sell out. Not entirely sure what the capacity is at the ballpark but I would expect blink to draw enough to fill it up.

Four Chord is always tempting with my partner’s family living in Pittsburgh. A lot on the lineup tempting me to change up my plans, but I guess Hot Mulligan and Jawbreaker will have to wait.

There's 20,000 ahead of me in the queue for Ethel Cain for a 5,000 capacity venue. Either multiple dates are going to need to be added or they are going to have to upgrade venues (speaking generally as I am reading it's crazy for a lot of the dates).

do you mean support for the LA record release show? last i knew the fall tour support was a mid level "overseas" rock band. mostly 5000+ outdoor venues, but a couple big indoor. album release in june with big nyc show then.

Bring hardcore back to the basements and VFW halls is what I have to say.

Did it ever leave? Aside from a few bands that broke out of the scene I imagine that's where the majority of those shows still happen.

Latest episode of Axe to Grind had a pretty good discussion on this. Listened last night and woke up this morning to Facebook pushing a TMZ story about the Gel break-up... Did not have that on my 2025 bingo card.

Listening to that yesterday and then seeing the Turnstile/Knocked Loose discussion primed that joke, but it's rooted in some general thoughts about the culture at large. Like I'm generally happy that these acts are going more mainstream, but it definitely feels like something's being lost in the sauce for me. I'm not sure what it is, but seeing Gel make TMZ and the New York Post just kinda...leaves a weird feeling in my mouth about the state of hardcore at large. Don't really know how to articulate it beyond being weird feeling.

For the record, I do not give a single fuck about whether Turnstile or Knocked Loose are arena caliber bands in the scope of things. They're both good acts who've earned their flowers, despite me preferring a different breed of hardcore at large.

There is a higher concentration of hardcore bands right now in the public eye- but I think the genre overall still exists on the diy level. Of the hundreds or maybe thousands of US hardcore bands, maybe 5-10 are getting some mainstream attention and regularly playing big stages. The rest are still doing DIY shit same as always

Feels like gel was only on TMZ because ‘band breaks up because member spent all their money on OF” is wacky news of the day type headline they can laugh at for a minute, which sucks because it’s omitting out the really shitty parts about him leaking nudes and all that

I don’t know if anyone is old enough to remember the giant backlash Hatebreed got when they blew up. It’s like the cycle is repeating
