im not a huge U2 fan but it was a spectacle. best way to describe it is, imagine being on soarin at disney but with a live soundtrack.

its absolutely worth it, id pay $200 for an artists i had minimal interest in based on the experience of the venue.

i sometimes prefer to hit a show up solo, but it depends on the genre. electronic music and heavier stuff are easier for me solo as the crowd already have energy…going to see a more mellow show solo can be cool too, just a different experience.

i love taking the train from niagara falls to toronto, get dropped off right downtown, grab some ramen and head to venue, back on the train home by 1130 usually.

my wife is mostly a good sport when i drag her to stuff, but her rule is 'no screaming bands', so i go to the metal and hardcore shows solo. she is a highschool choir teacher so screaming vocals make her wince no matter how many times i tell her they have all learned the safe ways to do it, haha

I am a solo show goer for the most part plus I don't drink and the nearest big cities for me is Birmingham and Wolverhampton and it cost £4.75 return train ticket so I could get back same night with ease and as for London shows last train back to where I live is 11:30pm during the week and weekends I get the coach there and back and I booked a return coach ticket for the Slayer gig way in advance and it cost £12.80!!

one of the more diverse FF line ups. sincere engineer is very random in the midst of the rest of the sunday line up, haha, seems like they would fit better on friday.

I usually go to one or two shows solo a year. Preferably GA shows. The vibes are always different depending on the artist/genre.
I'm planning on going to Poppy solo in a few weeks. Considering Halsey too, but trying to gauge what the crowd would be like in the GA pit.

Going to show with people who genuinely want to see the artist > going to shows solo > going to shows with people who were dragged along

I go to just about every show alone and agreed it does make it a bit cheaper. Sometimes.

I went last year to support my buddy’s wish for his 40th birthday. Spent around $300 to see Dead & Company, with John Mayer, none of which I have an ounce of care for.

That said, one of the coolest things I’ve experienced. Couldn’t recommend it more, no matter who is playing, it’s probably worth the price

John // OC now, OH forever.

Completely unrelated, but I'll be taking that train in reverse (Toronto to Niagara Falls) in a couple of weeks while we're in Toronto - any recommendations on food in either place?

COVID really kinda fucked up my social life. Two of my most frequent show partners moved away, one had a second kid and got a much more demanding job, and others refuse to go to any indoor spaces still. Fortunately, my partner and I enjoy a lot of the same music but she doesn't get the same charge out of seeing it live that I do unless she really loves the band...

So I go to shows alone ~75% of the time. And I've honestly started to love it. Especially at smaller venues with re-entry where I can dip out and go for a walk or grab a coffee between bands/during sets I don't care for. Which saves me money on the bar tab for sure. Also helps my social anxiety a bit, as I'm giving my self space (literally and figuratively) to breathe away from people.

Yeah, I’d say like, 85% of the shows I got to in a year, I do alone. Even before the pandemic, this was the case for me.

Most, if not all the friends I have down here don’t know a lot of the bands I like and if they do, they just aren’t down to go to a show. Like, I have a few friends that are NIN fans, but if I brought up going to see them this year, nothing would come of it. So I’m just seeing them alone.

The only person I go to shows with is my wife, but she’ll only come along if it’s someone she likes too. Or the few instances where she wants to see someone that none of her friends know so I go along with her.
