I've seen the Deftones like, 7-8 times over the years. Everywhere from a 2k theater to an arena. And they were pretty awesome just about every single time save for one instance where Chino was in one of those "clearly going through it" phases... And that was a mess.

But other than that? One of the best live bands going. Do it if you can make it work!

It’s a perfect day for letting go... Supporter

I saw Deftones with Code Orange at the Ryman in Nashville. Code Orange started their set with my world and said “THIS ISNT A FUCKING COUNTRY SHOW”

    No Fun. Not Ever.

Only time I saw Deftones was with The Dillinger Escape Plan and it was the night that Osama Bin Laden got caught.

K-Rock DFP 2000 at PNC Bank Arts Center in NJ. Lineup of the day (in order that they appeared): Sevendust, Deftones, Godsmack, Limp Bizkit, Stone Temple Pilots, Ozzy Osborne, Creed. I had to bounce before Ozzy in order to drive back home (I literally had only had my license for like 2 months and somehow convincing my folks to let me drive to Jersey was a big deal). Limp Bizkit apparently was stuck in traffic and/or Fred Durst was pissed that Creed was higher up in the lineup than him so he went on a rant about how Scott Stapp was a diva.

“Scott Stapp is an egomaniac, he’s a punk and he thinks he’s Michael Jackson!” Limp Bizkit and Creed once feuded and didn’t stop until Scott Stapp challenged Fred Durst to a boxing match

Just had a facebook event pop up for Face To Face at Jannus in St. Pete but when I tried to get more info it disappeared, so maybe it was posted prematurely and was deleted.

    Ain't no beef like a nu-metal beef.

Did you happen to catch the date of the show?

Feels like we're due for a tour from them. Maybe even an album too.

I didn't, I was scrolling too fast. Only thing I remember is there were two other bands listed and one of them was The Attack.

Freddy D also beefed with Taproot and Placebo in the era. Great times for beefs.

    DFP 4!
My first time seeing Deftones was at DFP 7-Tarium in 2003, which was just Metallica's tour with K-Rock's branding put on it. Such a cop out.
Metallica, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Deftones, Mudvayne. I'm sure you were there too haha

Ha yeah that was super weak especially if you consider what the sister lineup for the KROQ Weenie Roast was that year (which usually had 80-90% overlap): Foo Fighters, Godsmack, White Stripes, Jane's Addiction, Deftones, Staind, Sum 41, AFI, Blur, Good Charlotte, Evanescence, The Used, Less Than Jake, Thrice, Finch, Interpol, The Ataris, Chevelle and Pete Yorn. Feel like they could have mirrored the same lineup at Jones Beach with the heavier bands.

I never really found the K-ROCK DFP line-ups to be impressive. They were able to snag big names by virtue of where they were located, market size, etc. But it never ran very deep or felt like a full snapshot of the era and what was on the radio at the time. It always felt like, 4-6 bands from the same genre with 2-3 others. I don't doubt that they were fun but... It's just not much fun to look at on paper. LOL

KROQ, on the other hand, always had the big headliners and were always booking newer artists to load up the second stage with. I was always jealous of those as a kid. And the 2003 one is a really great example of that. A strong mix of new and legacy artists.
