saying blink and hozier. its really sad to see how many festivals are sharing headliners this year, not a ton of unique bookings this year.

Gaga at coachella? Is that the only unique festival headliner so far for 2025 in North America?

I think they have been very cautious, we all see it here, this festival bubble is literally on the brink of bursting in the next few years. So out of the talent pool they probably opted for the guaranteed draws, which probably ends up being the same pool of 10-12

I think a lot of these fests would have better sales if they weren’t just a regional version of similar lineups elsewhere in the country.

granted, you can only book who’s available. but a lot of the more interesting acts seem to be bailing on fests and doing their own headline tours.

like Bonnaroo, Boston Calling, Gov Ball, Osheaga, and a some others all looks like similar versions of each other with different branding.

even Coachella settled for Post and Green Day which have been headlining B-tier festivals the last couple years.

Thing with Coachella too is that at least that first weekend will sell out immediately regardless of who's headlining. Which is why I scratch my head when they book bland headliners like Green Day and Post Malone, who seem to be on the festival circuit every summer.

Coachella's poster would actually look a lot more appealing if they just removed those two and promoted Charli XCX and Meg Thee Stallion to headliner status. Lets stop repeating "legacy" acts and start taking chances on newer artists handling that closing slot. Coachella did it with Phoenix in 2013 and Tame Impala in 2016(?), would love to see it again.

that’s one thing the rock fests have realized and I don’t necessarily like all the bands but there has been this push to create new stars and push bands to headline status, ghost, bad omens, turnstile, bring me the horizon, have all been actively pushed as headliners the last few years.

    Things have changed.

Because they are. For instance, Sea Here Now, Oceans Calling, Shaky Knees, the Minnesota one, Innings – all booked by the same guy.

100%. Sleep Token too. I love to see those promoters actually investing in the success of these newer bands, rather than just rebooking Green Day, Slayer, Metallica, Korn etc every year.

yea very true, they probably get these acts to sign deals to play multiple. I guess bring back the independent fests or just hope Coachella, Riot, and a few select other continue to strive for unique bookings.

are people really doing all these festivals in one year anyway? id imagine outside of a very small group most people going to a festival are going to 1 a year so festivals different parts of the states sharing headliners doesnt really matter

DWP actively tries to get headliners for multiple festival at a reduced cost. It makes sense

Im surprised that besides Primavera Sound, no other festivals booked Sabrina, Chappell and Charli as headliners this year, specially how they blow out last summer.

I know they played some of the big ones last year like Coachella, Bonnaroo and Lolla, but havent seen other festivalsbesides Primavera taking the chance and placing them as headliners this year

So as quick as it came back, mayhem fest is dead. Ash is instead launching the Miss Mayhem tour this summer, with 8 female fronted acts, a co headliner.

For shits and giggles I’ll try to predict the 8

    evanescence
    Flyleaf
    Poppy
    Spiritbox
    Kittie
    Dying wish
    Gel
    Face Yourself
    Conquer Divide

edit: Jinjer shared the press release, so they are on it

Ooooh I'm actually more excited for this Miss Mayhem tour than the return of the fest. I hope Flyleaf isnt a part of it though.
I could see Scowl, Mothica and Violent Vira as possible acts too.

I guess it depends if it’s a summer shed tour or like the bigger ga venues. That wasn’t specific

Could see Escuela Grind back on since they did the one day fest last year.

Other possibilities off the top of my head: Year of the Knife, Employed to Serve, Volatile Ways.

Could see New Years Day being on that too. I wonder if Summer of Loud killed the original Mayhem concept and now they're doing this

If it’s a shed tour Evanescence is the only band in the genre capable of headlining. If it’s like a 3k-5k tour then I could see Poppy and Spiritbox being the co headliners.

Miss Mayhem is apparently a co-headliner. Poppy and Spiritbox have the potential to do the funniest thing.

Yeah and I was just thinking both Poppy and Spiritbox are having a moment so I can't see them not doing this. BUT both are currently starting big headlining spring tours and will be in Europe in June/July. So I could see it being a Spiritbox/Poppy co-headliner starting in September and doing 5k spaces.

One of the promoters in Philly has Tramp Stamp night, which has a bunch of this stuff plus some other "trashy Y2k pop hits"

I came here to say it seems like people are pretty excited about Oceans Calling & Shaky Knees, but looking at the lineups there's still a decent amount of overlap, & they're both right around Riot Fest who will absolutely have some artists from both of those tests

I don't have high hopes for Miss Mayhem. Ash really dropped the ball with Summer Slaughter and with mayhem last year but I feel that was more timing of it since it was during aftershock

Riot and OC def lean a bit into the meme/one hit wonder bookings and it totally works for them, it def gives them a more unique nostalgic vibe without going full WWWY.
