Got lower level tickets for $97 each. Less than I paid for Blink and PTV

    No Fun. Not Ever.

This sounds like my experience with DCFC/Postal Service. Combined three fucking hours in traffic getting there and leaving. If my friend wasn't with me, I would've left 30 minutes into traffic.

Don't mention that to the people here that insist every concert should be max $40!

Took a peak at the Jones Beach presale even though I'll be out of town.
There's a limited amount of upper deck tickets for $55, but for the most part these tickets range from $100 - $200 (excluding "platinum" seats).

Lawn/back of the amphitheater tickets are $55 after fees for the Offspring at Jiffy Lube Live (Virginia), which isn't bad.

These are the tickets that usually end up on Groupon for like $20 which is funny because that was their actual price before COVID

Primus/Ty Segall/Mononeon tour happening this summer, apparently

I’ve long accepted that Jones Beach prices are going to be even more than that of the standard sheds. It’s in a state park so I imagine there are all sorts of regulatory fees to be paid on top of the usual costs.

Yeah, I can't imagine this will sell out, I'm in no rush to buy. I was just curious what the starting price for lawn tickets was looking like, I was expecting more like $80-100.

I booked my Slayer ticket for the London show and it cost all together £107.80 for 1 ticket which for a big outdoor headline show which has Amon Amarth, Anthrax, Mastodon, Hatebreed and Neckbreaker supporting I say it's great value for money!

My bad. Forgot that tickets are luxury items, people should feel shame for not being able to afford them, and Daddy Ticketmaster is bae.

Just let people express their frustration in peace.

No one is saying tickets are exclusively luxury items, just not all shows are the same value. You can go see live music for $20-30 and also for $300, just depends who it is. Arena/shed shows, based soley on the price point, probably fall into luxury items.

You have said tickets are luxury items several times in the past lol

I mean.......they technically are in that they aren't defined as an essential purchase/item (i.e not food, housing, clothing, etc.).

are we still lucky to be here? Prestigious

All of this discourse is why you all should exclusively listen to grindcore and power electronics artists. You will never have to worry about Ticketmaster fees and Livenation shed parking situations again.

You have said it numerous times in the past. And I don't even disagree with you on the point that they are non-essential items.

But it comes off as condescending (to me, anyway). Because I'd imagine that most people are posting about those prices because they'd like to go but can't. It just feels pretty tone-deaf to be making snarky comments about it.

Maybe I'm being too sensitive, because I don't think you mean anything by it. But... Everybody in here loves music and I'm just not sure how it's productive to say "LOL, sorry, what did you expect?" when people are frustrated by it.

There are plenty of concerts I would like to go to and I’ll spend $60 to go to one but when five artists are charging $60-$100+ and announcing tours all around the same time and either you pay up for all of them or the shows sell out and you have to go for resale (which can end up even more expensive)…it is a bit frustrating. Obviously artists need to make money and touring (and merchandise sales) are a big way they do it but for the consumer it can be challenging to decide what to spend money on when everything is priced up.

No, they're not all the same value, but the scale has always seemed off to me making the larger events seem a little more luxurious and out of the common folks budget than they perhaps should be.

    1,000 x $40 = $40,000
    10,000 x $40 = $400,000
    10,000 x $175 = $1,750,000
(COMPLETELY MADE UP NUMBERS JUST TO ILLUSTRATE).

I have no idea on the exact ins and outs, and I could very well be wrong on how costs scale, but the ticket prices just don't seem to scale fairly for amphitheaters / arenas as the added cost of those events should at least be partly covered by the extra people (the old adage of volume cures all ills). Yes, staffing, transportation, production values all go up, but I suspect that there's dishonesty and gouging going on.
