  1. I saw them with 311 in 2002. My favorite local band at the time opened the show here, which was really cool.

I went to that Sprite Liquid Mix 2002 tour too! 311, Jay Z, NERD, Hoobastank, Nappy Roots and Nonpoint. Great memories.

It would have been weird. For very much the same reason it felt weird that Papa Roach and Alien Ant Farm were on the tour in 2000 and 2001, respectively. That tour always had a slot or two for major label-pushed artists so it "made sense." But they were outliers and certainly not "part of it" in the way that, say, Less Than Jake or Pennywise or New Found Glory were.

I used a similar comparison earlier but... Nobody's walking around calling Glassjaw or the Used nu-metal bands because they were on OzzFest in 2003. Because they don't really sound like any of those bands nor did they really associate with them beyond sharing a festival stage every now and again.

I understand why the band would want to shoehorn themselves into that nostalgia wave. It's just odd to me that fans aren't raising their eyebrows at it. If the festival were called like "MySpace Profile Bangers" or "Music for Millennial Mini-Vans" or whatever I wouldn't have batted an eye, TBH. LOL

Bands like Hoobastank and Three Days Grace were perfect for the Ozzfest side stage back in the early aughts. Now, all that shit gets blended together under the “00s Nostalgia” banner. Same reason why Limp Bizkit could get booked for these Warped shows and no one from the outside looking in would question it

I dunno I saw Alien Ant Farm at Warped in 2001 and they got one of the best responses of the day.

John // OC now, OH forever.

Hoobastank pre-The Reason would have easily fit on Warped as a precursor to bands like Hawthorne Heights or Matchbook Romance. That first album is an action sports soundtrack.

    idk man

I saw her on Thursday and it looked like there was an alright turnout, I would say at least 2/3 full. That said the balcony was closed off for VIP. The crowd got into it though!

Well today I learned that 1) there’s a music venue in Norwalk, and 2) Lauren Mayberry is playing there tonight. I wish I knew sooner I would’ve totally gone. Now that I’m in Westchester I’d much rather go to shows in Norwalk and Port Chester than trek to the city
