Lana Del Rey hasn't played the NYC are going on 6 years yet she's out here performing fests in the middle of Iowa...

Didnt Hinterland had issues of being overcrowded in past years? I fear having Lana Del Rey and Tyler The Creator as their headliners wont help with that issue

I was one of the people who had to leave after day 1 last year @ hinterland because of the overcrowding and lack of safety, it really does seem like this year they've amped it up with a new map / more water stations and larger festival grounds. I think i'm still just going to stick with lollapalooza this year though since most of the acts on hinterland are going to be on Lollapalooza anyway.

Scowl is so out of place on this lineup, lol. Good for them though!!!

Did Manson always play Filmore/20Mon sized venues or did he previously do arenas? i only ever saw him advertised for outdoor stuff so i was surprised to see him advertised at the filmore.

They're about to be on all that kind of stuff now that they're on Phoebes label

He’s done plenty of tours hitting 2-3k cap venues in the past. Most of the tours in arenas were co-headliners with Rob Zombie and similar artists.

This feels like an unnecessarily convoluted way of listing the line up.

He was never a full on arena act. During the heyday of Antichrist Superstar he did some of the smaller arenas. On Mechanical Animals he was supposed to do a co-headlining tour with Hole in arenas but the two acts fought (mainly about production budget) and Hole ended up dropping off. I think ticket sales were already soft for the tour at the time, as both MM and Hole's albums did well enough but paled in comparison to the nu metal takeover that was happening at the time. Since then he's been a theater act unless he's able to co-headline in sheds with another act of similar size.

thanks for all of the info on Manson. i never really followed closely but for whatever reason i thought he was an enormous name that maybe fell off recently due to his scandals. sounds like it’s still kinda the same as ever.

Allegations aside (which are...yikes), he's a spotty studio artist who drummed up a lot of hysteria in the 90's do to his "shocking" antics. It's the perfect kind of gateway band for young kids living in conservative households to get into and then grow out of once they go to college and start listening to more interesting parts of music. As a 12 year old in the 90's, I thought Antichrist Superstar was exciting but, aside from a few tracks here and there, it's kinda weak musically and his behavior outside his music just hasn't encouraged me to stay plugged in. I imagine this scales across his audience from that era thus why he's a theater act at best these days. Europe is a different story as I think he's always been slightly bigger there.

Yeah Manson’s only been able to do large venues if he’s co-headlining with someone. The tour he did with Rob Zombie and that weird MM/Smashing Pumpkins co-headliner

If I couldn't be depressed enough today, we now live in a world where Shinedown headlines MSG
