    The intrusive whisper fascinates me

It’s NFL season. No bands are allowed to tour during NFL season

It’s mostly because of the lull between December-January where not many bands tour. Doesn’t make sense to announce later winter/spring tours quite yet.

Plus shows in the winter are the worst because you gotta wear a jacket to the gig but then it’s like, do I leave it so I won’t be hot in the venue but then I’m freezing in line or on the walk to venue?

I’ll vote for whoever can make mandatory coat checks at all venues

My guess is it'll start to pick up again later this week since Labor Day's passed. Not to mention a LOT of bands have fall tours about to start.

    November is stacked for me,

    Thrice/ Manchester Orchestra
    Rise Against
    Enter Shikari
    The Dear Hunter
    Zack Bryan
    Better Lovers

September, alone, is insane for me: Kacey Musgraves, NAILS, Charli XCX, Descendents, Basement, Matchbox 20, Vampire Weekend, La Dispute.

    idk man

There is a week at the end of October where if I got the tickets for every show I would have 10 shows in a row. Doubtful I will but the point that this fall is absolutely stacked stands.

I wonder what awesome tours happen next year, with news of Radiohead rehearsing, Deftones recording a new album, Thrice writing new music, the big 4 with Metallica, hopefully When We Were Young fest continuing.

Genuine question: Assuming Deftones drops their new album next year and tours, what type of venues are we expecting for them? If how much they’ve re-blown up the past few years, would arenas/amps be too ambitious for them? Or is that fair?

nah moreso because it was labor day last week. a lot of the industry avoids putting shows on sale around the major holidays.

Can see them doing the likes of Forest Hills in NYC

  14. They’ve re-blown up? I can’t imagine them headlining amps or arenas. I can’t imagine they’d even sell out a 2,000 cap place without another bigger band on the bill.

huh? They just did prime spots at Lolla and Coachella and played a small arena run for Ohms.

where do you live exactly ha?

yea they have, another tik tok related thing. I do absolutely think they get. Big direct support and do summer amps.

  17. SLC Utah, and under a rock I guess.

  18. I just don’t see them headlining those sized venues, unless it’s pavilion only maybe. Like I could see them having something like AFI’s slot on that 30STM tour. But I don’t go on TikTok at all so what do I know

the last tour in 2022 with gojira was mostly small arenas and sheds over 5k

I think if they did something like a Deftones/Coheed summer tour it would fill all those summer amphitheaters

Y'all are crazy if you don't think Deftones has this pull. They played a 4k venue here two years ago and tickets were going for like 3x face.

Even before Deftones blew up on tik tok they were doing big venues. Their last tours before the pandemic had them at 6k venues. And before that they did co-headliner tours with Incubus and Rise Against and those did 15k amphitheaters.

I think they can do amphitheaters on their own now. But yeah as Phil said a venue like Forest Hills Stadium would be perfect for them (13k).

Deftones are pretty lucky in that they can tour with a pretty large breadth of bands. If they took the approach Third Eye Blind have taken, and tour with bands where there's a pretty evenly-dispersed Venn diagram of fans I could see them doing ampitheaters.

The Coheed idea is kinda perfect, honestly. I could also see a co-headliner with Turnstile doing really well too.

EDIT: Also really depends on the city, I'm sure. The Boston date on the last tour was in a 8k capacity venue. But that was also with Gojira and Poppy opening, if I recall... So reallly strong support. And it didn't sell out.
