I actually just got a code right now and the email said it was because I signed up for her tours in the past

Odd. I had been signed up for that mailing list and got nothing. I wonder if mailing lists regularly purge their lists in order to get people to re sign up which is irritating. Gotten a million emails about discounts to her web store yet no presale code.

Also, on top of the cost of the passes, there are so many additional costs these days particularly for festivals that aren't in or around cities.

Makes it all the more bizarre that Lollapalooza is selling better than it has at least since pre-pandemic years, if not longer.

    Name value helps

What do you mean by that? Name value of the fest, or the name value of artists on the lineup? Because even the other major festivals have not been moving tix as quick.

like that you probably have an easier time convincing folks to go cause it’s “lollapalooza” ya know?

Definitely true to an extent, but that could be said for Coachella too, and while that fest was getting press for lackluster sales this year, Lolla is doing better than it has in a while. I get what you mean though, and I think Lolla benefits from being easier to go to since it's in the middle of a major city rather than in a dessert or rural area.

Additionally, they're cracking down on people buying tickets for multiple shows. You're only allowed to buy 4 tickets (per billing address across) the entire tour. (ie, once you you've bought 4 tickets, you can't buy anymore tickets, even if they're for different dates.)

Cool idea. Reminds me of some of temper tantrums I saw over the Eras tour that were like "WTF missed our on NJ tickets and now I'm ONLY going to PA and MA."

I suppose I’m not with the crowd here but disagree a bit and think this is a poor addition / rule.

50 Cent is my favorite rapper and has been since I was a kid. He obviously doesn’t tour often (aside from club shows) so I went to 8 shows of his Final Lap Tour last summer and booked vacations around batches of dates. It was an absolute blast and I enjoyed every show uniquely. I got to see different guests in different cities (LA/Detroit/etc.).

Seems odd to me they’re threatening consumers for going and seeing a show more than what they deem is ‘enough’. This seems like a scalper blocker that hurts fans who want to see their favorite artists as much as they please.

While on the topic of these ‘scalper blocking’ measures, I think the face value resale is genius in principal.

However, I’ve now had two personal examples of it not working for the OG buyer (me). On two instances (Foo Fighters in Phoenix & Taylor Swift in Scotland) I’ve bought tickets and later found better seats and upgraded. While going through the channels to resale through the OG platforms, the money I’ve gotten back isn’t even what I paid. They both failed to include fees, taxes, etc.

As I said, I adore the idea in principal. However, when the secondary market is multiples of what you paid, and you’re losing money on what you own to ‘follow the rules’ it fails to make sense to me. Not to mention, for Foo Fighters specifically, Ticketmaster had wound up charging 3-4x what I initially paid for the same seats. Not sure how/why but they definitely weren’t ‘face value’ the second go around.
