The only real discourse should be that bands probably shouldn’t tour with a band that enabled, protected, and defended an *alleged* abuser and murderer for years.

I completely agree. I’ll just be honest and say I dunno what, if any, ramifications there could be of routinely calling someone an abuser on the internet lol not my wheelhouse

I’m half ready to be entertained, half ready to be annoyed at the inconsistency.

If you don’t want to support a band over alleged or proven events, that’s your choice as a consumer. But to continue to support the other acts on these bills in the future is inconsistent at best. Scowl and Militarie Gun are just part of a growing list of bands endeared by this thread that have chosen to tour with ADTR in recent years (Knocked Loose, Beartooth, The Ghost Inside, Underoath, Wage War, Fever 333 and Bring Me The Horizon are others I recall).

Who will be brave enough to post the tour poster is the real question

 

IMO just because a band chooses to tour with a bigger band and take a paycheck doesn't always mean they support said bands actions. I hate my boss yet I continue to come to work every day?

Depends on what kind of shit your boss is doing in or out of the workplace. I left a medical job not too long ago because of shady shit being done by upper management and corporate.

I don’t blame these bands for touring with them, getting paid and growing. There’s just a lot of inconsistency in this thread that deserves to be called out. Bands like ADTR, DGD, and ALID are routinely vilified for both proven and unproven events. If the majority in here believe these bands don’t deserve support and a platform for their actions, there should be criticism when up-and-coming bands make the decision to tour with them and are an extension of tickets being sold.

Side eye all you want. Any person accused of a crime should be able to defend themselves. I’d rather see people convicted first then make rash decisions unless the evidence is too damning and obvious (eye-witness, video surveillance).

What kind of evidence exactly are you looking for? Evidence doesn't exist in the overwhelming majority of these scenarios. Maybe you should just, you know, believe victims and not famous people routinely taking advantage of an obvious power dynamic?

 

This goes beyond the music scene for me, personally. I am all for taking accusations seriously. I am also for anyone accused of a crime being able to fight allegations before their job is taken, reputation is tarnished, or injured/killed. I’ll even go here: I can’t, as a colored man, support assuming guilt in all cases before evidence comes out. I’ve seen too many examples in media (and in my personal life) of harm coming to innocent parties. Best of luck to you if you’re ever accused of something awful and don’t get the opportunity to clear your name fully ✌
