I love the idea of Keane, OneRepublic & Sting being insanely fucking huge in India; I'm currently visualizing everyone in attendance absolutely losing their minds to soft adult contemporary rock, & it's so fun

right before this tour, i was seeing SOTY at one of their hometown shows and i met the bass player, i told him i was driving to columbus ohio to see that tour since it was skipping my city and he said "hell ye man, whats your name ill put you on the list" and he took the time to find a pen and paper, write my name and number down, and he was the one to offer it, i never asked... months later i drove my ass 6 hours and was definitely NOT on the list, haha, was still a great show

Haha I have a somewhat similar story. Was in Toronto for work and the Dirty Nil were playing a show with the Flatliners in the suburbs. I had talked to the (most recent) old bassist of the NIL quite a bit at past shows since I saw them all over the world (Canada, US, Austria) and he said if I was ever in Toronto to let ‘‘em know as they’d guest list me.

So the trip comes around and I messaged him like day of or before and he says “yep you’re on the list!” I haul my ass out to the far Toronto burbs, nearly get kicked off a commuter bus because i didn’t know you had to pay for the combined train ride fare online and not in person, and then took an Uber to get to the venue. Walk in and I’m not on the list lol.

However, the NIL’s drummer was in some coat room right behind the check in, he looked down and was like “he’s fine let him in” haha

    I’d bet Riot Fest.

Also, surprised to see Portland there. They made it sound like the Tacoma shows would be the last ones in the PNW.

they started as a ska band. This directly rips off 311.

I know this. But I'm never sure why people are willfully obtuse when these discussions pop-up... "Band X started out playing Y" doesn't mean that they're meaningfully tied to that particular scene or genre of music in anyway if the majority of their fanbase doesn't know those releases exist.

The only reason Hoobastank is on bills like that is because people put them alongside Three Days Grace and My Chemical Romance in their MySpace profiles for a few years in the early 2000s. None of this matters. It's just really silly to me.
