Personally I would be a menace in the Aquabats pit. Someone's gotta show the influencers how you really do it.

Side Note: Would love to go to Coachella someday. Honestly I would even be down to do it this year. It's just too damn expensive.

I’ve always wanted to cross Coachella off my bucket list. And honestly, I could have a real fun time at this years. It’s just the insane price tag. 500 bucks plus cross country flight plus camping pass plus car rental to get from LA to Indio.

But if a smaller fest with like a $300 price tag and a more accessible location had a lineup with No Doubt, Blur, Deftones, “Sublime,” Taking Back Sunday, Militarie Gun, Bleachers, Japanese House, Grimes and Tinashe on the lineup, I would buy a ticket instantly.

I could be wrong, but that feels like a very difficult balance to strike. Because it's the older crowd (using that term loosely!) who generally have the ability to pay for a festival, lodging, etc. And some of what they seem to be shooting for is geared more toward the 25 and younger crowd? Unless I'm way off?

You're pretty spot-on with regard to some of the "older" picks too. It feels a little scattered and unfocused when I look at those picks. Like, the whole thing just kinda feels very uncurated? And maybe that's the point? Coachella's never been like Riot Fest, or even Shaky Knees. It's always had pretty broad appeal and a lot of oddball picks. I think it just stands out more at this point because of the clear generational divides in play.

At the end of the day, though, a "slow" year for Coachella is still more than what most festivals could hope to ever do on their best year so... They'll be fine.

I’m lucky in that Coachella is a quick drive there and back for me and I use the payment plan so it doesn’t feel that expensive

Generally younger people are more open to spending a lot of money than people with kids and other shit they're worrying about, I also don't like assuming that someone in their 30s won't be excited by the lineup music is music

I think you nailed it. That’s another factor here too.

To use myself as an example: When I was younger I def wanted to go to Coachella at least once and there were enough bands playing that I could justify going. But I never went because I was student and never really had the time or funds to go.

That I can go, now I don’t really want to… Deftones are really the only band I’m interested in seeing Friday, handful of acts I’d wanna see Saturday (Tyler, Blur, Sublime, Aquabats) and… no one on Sunday, aside for maybe TBS.

I wonder how it’ll be for other fests too. Like, I wonder how Bonaroo and Boston Calling do this year. I’m also interested to see how Lolla’s lineup turns out

Sleep Token presale was lame this morning. Signed up for presale and just never heard anything. No code, no waitlist, didn’t even say it was limited.

You need a camping pass for your car too!

Hopefully they go all out next year like they usually do and get Paul McCartney, Bruce, Eminem, Tupac Hologram, Blink again

    Fun must be always. Prestigious

the only reason I go is because I stay with family so that cuts a bunch of cost

but no lie if any other fest dropped that lineup I would just be like damn that’s cool and not drop the money on it

Coachella I throw all the money at

Yeah the Coachella discussion is an interesting one. Feel like it mainly caters to people 25 and the under but the whole thing just seems CRAZY expensive. Not just the tickets but it’s not in a city where you can just step off a train and go. Gotta have transportation and/or lodging which itself is gonna run another $500 or so at least. Lotta people probably evaluating if it’s worth doing that for acts that will play LA anyways.

It is the best American festival experience , since its a perfectly kept field of grass and Goldenvoice has top notch infrastructure. I want to go back but they should group camp sties by age lol. I dont wanna party with boomers or zoomers.

I wonder if they’ll ever ditch the 2 weekend thing. Or at least the 2 weekends same lineup.
This year had me thinking if they were having trouble finding big names willing to commit to their tour touring having them in the same area for a full week.

Anyone near Anahiem should check this show out... Dick Dale's (who did the music to Space Mountain) and some cool guests. The coolest poster I've ever seen. featuring the Disney Imagineer who posted this.

Random things like this have been some of my favorite live music experiences, if I was in the LA area I'd go without hesitation
