It has to be in smaller venues. I don't think Megadeth / LOG is enough to fill some of the venues they did in years past. I like the rumored bill so far, but I also know Megadeth isn't a typical amphitheatre band without a huge bill supporting them.

I agree with you and think it will be at smaller places, for arguments sake though I will say when I went to see Megadeath in an amphitheater a few years ago with Amon Amarth as direct support it was like half full, I’d say 6k-7k so it isn’t totally out of the realm of possibility that added a fest worth of great bands could draw 10k a date. I could see that line of thinking. Their arena tour with the Scorpions sounded like it drew pretty well as well.

It's possible Megadeth and LOG arent the headliners? Though I can't really think of many other bands that would fit that slot.

I saw them on that tour too, and I'd argue that it falls into the huge supporting bill category. For those curious the bill was Megadeth / Amon Amarth / Suicidal Tendencies / Metal Church / Butcher Babies. I'd argue that AA and ST alone added enough to the bill to entice more people to attend.

I've seen so many news sites reporting the rumor that it's headlined by both of them, but I too find it hard to believe. As it is I think both of them were only in the third slot on the main stage when they both did the tour in 2010 for LOG and 2011 for Megadeth. And the Wolverinekills post said Hatebreed was main stage, so that would leave only one more slot on main stage to another band, unless Down is also main stage. I still can absolutely see them throwing on an Avenged Sevenfold or Marilyn Manson to headline the bill. I would say Slipknot but I think they're overseas during the usual timeframe.

I can see Avenged Sevenfold being thrown on. Manson won't happen since he's opening up for Ozzy Osbourne this summer

I misread that as them all touring together and I was rather confused for a second...

Those are three bands I would never see separately but would definitely see together.

It probably doesn't mean much since it is their home country, but Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! is playing the Paris date of Slam Dunk this year. If anything it means the band hasn't completely disappeared.
