Mayday should be doing an Anywhere But Here tour instead of just 5 shows and an emo band cover tour

This Mayday thing is the funniest thing I've ever heard who green lit this

I submitted my band to open the Denver date on the Mayday Parade tour and the promoter got back to me saying that the openers on this tour are all local emo night DJs.

I have spotify and can curate a decent playlist, maybe I should hit the promoter up.

The reasoning was that there is less equipment on stage and it's really popular right now. I'm sure it's also cheaper to ask someone to plug in their computer than it is to pay a support band. I don't really see how this is any different than the house music in between bands, but ok.

what does this mean? like MCR emo? or SDRE? i think i know the answer but this is really pathetic. emo nite was a mistake

It means MCR emo and who cares? Emo night is fun as hell and no one who is going to a fucking Mayday Parade show is going to hear SDRE.

That being said, I’d love to go to an emo night like that sometime.

i mean. i'd prefer to go to a mayday parade show to hear mayday parade if i were into them, but that's just me. but $$$ is king after all.

i was being a little facetious because yeah there's no way but it seems less pathetic to pay tribute to your forebearers than covering your more successful peers in order to corner that nostalgia market vs playing your actual music

Mayday can sell out 750-1000 cap rooms on their own, they are fine

I wonder if they will play a short encore set after? They'll be tons of their own fans there. Also, that page seems to imply that there will be other bands doing this in the future. I could see this easily becoming a thing. Makes more sense than "emo nite la" doing a tour tbh

There are very few similarities between SDRE and Mayday Parade, but "Pop Punk Night" isn't as catchy as "Emo Night".

There is a massive portion of mayday (and insert mid-00s warped tour band) fans who are late 20s/early 30 year olds who go to their 3 shows a year so they can get drunk with friends and be nostalgic about high school. Only makes sense to drive that point home and play a bunch of covers that the people coming to see you wanna hear
