...*sigh* Best Place On the Internet to be a Waterparks fan, huh?

edit: now waiting with baited breath for a Waterparks/ETID co-headliner.

 

They're young enough that they're impressionable is the thing, and "impressionable" is their main characteristic in the zeitgeist, not "progressive". From what I understand, the band is like a cash cow taylored to fit the aesthetic likes of AP teens. Also, even lgbt kids will defend transmisogyny, and teen girls will stick up for misogyny sadly, if you look at the twitter search. They're conditioned like that still, even if they have a progressive outlook.

 

Honestly Waterparks would be fine if Awsten just toned it the fuck down and their fanbase all didn't have the "lol look how random I can be, watch me just yell what I had for breakfast" personality in an attempt to I guess get the band to notice them.

 

That first Waterparks record was totally fine, but I can't emphasize enough how miserable of an experience it was to get through that new record.

 

This, except I thought the first album was a masterpiece and the followup was just meh/decent

 

I can’t speak to their fanbase, I don’t have Twitter and make a point to spend very little time on the social media I do have. I’m not crazy about Awsten’s all caps approach but then I only check in when I want to and usually just to see if there’s any news of tour dates (there’s usually not.)

I remember another user on this site compared them to FOB in approach and personality and i found it a very apt comparison.

Also, the new album was fine. Couple duds, couple bangers.

don't know but if you ever wonder "hmmm weird how this band is getting a lot of coverage in a magazine," there's a chance because their label/management/publicist etc agreed to make a big ad spend
