As I Lay Dying was a big influence on getting me into metalcore and other various genres. I was devastated about what Tim Lambesis did.

With this said, I'll be going to the fall reunion tour. I expect Tim to have apologies every night and him to constantly ask for forgiveness from his fanbase. I have to believe that his bandmates getting behind him and supporting him trying to recover, that the hope is their fanbase too.

P.S. TOTALLY RESPECT ANYONE WHO REFUSES TO SUPPORT THE GUY AT ALL 100 PERCENT.

Have you listened to the band before?

 

Yep. I liked them back in high school, but Gothenburg/melo-death influenced metalcore has not aged well for me. This song is a perfect exemplar of that for me, and I'd rather just listen to At the Gates or Amon Amarth than dive deeper.

 

New AILD song is great. I can't wait for a new album and tour.

 

Fair enough. I really enjoyed the opening bit due to it reminding me a lot of In Flames style riffs. Felt the overall song was really strong by metalcore standards.

Secrets are opening As I Lay Dying's reunion show.

Take into account that Slaves tour last year, I'm wondering if touring with shitty people inherently makes them a shitty band.

 

wonder how many bands they asked that said no before they settled on that terrible band

 

Secrets is local in the sense so it was probably an easy yes for them and they probably were one of the first bands asked.

 

I liked Secrets, but their last album was a huge step down from everything before it. Morals aside, I wouldn't be excited to see them now either way haha

I wish they'd add a Michigan date into that open Halloween off-date, but I'm guessing they're leaving that in for when Chicago sells out.

 

I'll be driving to Chicago... sucks I missed Detroit this last time, was really expecting Grand Rapids.
