I feel old because I always considered most of these bands to be absolutely terrible and don't know anyone who give two shits about bands anymore. Can't believe it's been 10 years since that awful phase hit the scene. Thankfully the best bands from that era have grown and evolved into much better artists.

The Maine i would say have transitioned the best. that band is still incredible.

That's the band I was hinting at the most along with Mayday Parade, but moreso The Maine because I have always been super unimpressed by their old stuff.

very different. in the midwest you have towns like bloomington or milwaukee or omaha or witchita or whatever that actually have scenes. there's literally nothing coming out of timmins, or sudbury, or saskatoon, or whatever. it's more like when bands tour eastern europe or something where you know you're gonna lose money, but at least you're taking a shot at seeing what happens.

once you go west or toronto, your next significant city is probably thunder bay which is 10 hours west (for americans, it's basically like driving from buffalo to duluth, mn), which is still a pretty small college town, then after that it's winnipeg 7 hours west of that. you have places like barrie, sault st. marie, sudbury and timmins on the way, but those are like... D market city ghost towns. a lot of agents will convince foreign bands to not do full canada tours because you basically have the Montreal-QC City - Ottawa- GTA corridor, then like 18 hours of nothing, then on the west coast, you have Vancouver-Calgary-Edmonton-Winnipeg which is still a drive and a half but worth it. not much connecting the two.

are we still lucky to be here? Prestigious

You typed pretty much exactly what I was thinking reading this thread just now...most of the bands being discussed here were awful in the worst way to me.

That album was so good. I remember the lead singer Nick doing a quick solo project and they were actually suppose to do a reunion show a few years back but cancelled it like a month before, I think? Something about the band not being able to coexist in the same room... ‍

As someone who grew up in the mid-10's generation of Pop-Punk:

"What Do You Want From Me" by FTSK > anything Knuckle Puck has ever done

(I'll admit I'm biased: I'm so fucking sick of the angsty, sad, angry screamy non-melodic pop-punk. I want the fun catchy anthemic electronic-infused riffy era of pop-punk back.)

    music is all we got

I'm loving this neon pop punk discussion, that scene was my everything back in the day. I feel like so many of those bands put out awesome music and then just disappeared and then the scene swung hard in a different direction. Wish we could go back to the carefree catchy bullshit. Fingers crossed for 10 year tours!
