The curse of the "big hit" being at the start of an album. It shows a lot of confidence when a band does that. And I'm legit a little surprised that Yellowcard does it that way...

I remember the Offspring doing the Smash album play and saving "Self Esteem" for last. Seemed like a really strange move because it's not like they don't have other huge hits they could play after the album ended.

  2. I saw The Ataris (just Kris acoustic) play Blue Skies in full a few years ago, but he played it all out of order with some other songs thrown in. I think they did something similar with So Long Astoria awhile ago too. Weird way to do it, but I kinda like it.

This was the first thing that came to mind for me. I thought that was a bizarre move considering their second set was pure hits (save for Staring At The Sun)

  4. They sort of have it both ways because they usually close with "Lights and Sounds" and tack the chorus of "Ocean Avenue" on to the end.

When they played OA in full last year at RF they did it by the order of the record but at the very end they did the last part of "Ocean Avenue" again to send everyone home happy.

I think I’ve mentioned this before, but the last time I saw They Might Be Giants, they played their first album in its entirety, but they played it in “order of their favorite to least favorite songs. Because this show isn’t about you.” I thought it was the funniest thing.

Also, when I saw Built To Spill play Keep It Like A Secret a few years back, they played the album in reverse-order, skipped over Carry The Zero and saved it for the last song of their encore

I can't really contextualize this, but I'd imagine anybody seeing Vanessa Carlton at any point in the last decade probably goes beyond the hits so... It could make sense?

Yeah, I remember walking out as that was happening! Hah. It gives the people who stick around another chance, but it doesn't solve the issue of the big "pop" happening very early in the set.

Again, I think it's more a sign of confidence than anything else. I'm just surprised is all.

This is what Cypress Hill did with Black Sunday too. Not a terrible move considering how much stronger the first half of that record is.

I was disappointed. I had to leave right after they finished the album to go to The Academy Is… aftershow

Considering drinks were $17 for tall boy beer, $18 for a single pour and $22 for a double…we had some VERY hostile customer during shows.

Never had an issue cutting off sales (930pm was hard stop), best part of the job was after we did inventory we could clock out then turn our work shirt inside out and watch the rest of the headliner from the lawn.

Country shows were by far, the rowdiest and drunkest. Since drinks were so expensive those crowds would show up at 2pm for a 7pm show and tailgate in the lot allllllll day. They were extremely rude and the amount of fights in the crowds was wild.

When I worked there Warped was still happening, they’d legit staff 1/5th of the bartenders bc were mostly just selling soda and water all day ha.

When I saw the 10 year show for Bon Iver, Bon Iver the setlist had every song from the album but it was mixed in with the rest of their material and completely out of order. Thought that was an interesting take on doing an album show

I must have stockholm syndrome living in NYC but $22 for a double sounds like a good deal these days. I swear at my local amphitheater (Jones Beach) it's creeping close to $30

$18 for single and $22 for a double?? I didn’t major in economics but that just seems irresponsible to not do the double

As someone who thinks 'Ocean Avenue' is Yellowcard's 5th best album, I'm becoming more and more interested in this tour.

To casual music fans (who I feel sometimes are the demographic who usually go to these big amphitheater shows), are Yellowcard considered a one hit wonder? Or do they have enough songs casual music fans would know.
