Just a band I really need to dig into in earnest given that Is Survived By is so tremendously good, but I'm woefully uninformed on a lot of their other stuff.
I would say the band kept getting better every album but the older stuff is still good just not as varied in song structure and dynamics.
First two records will always have a special place in my heart but I'd argue they haven't missed yet.
Spiral in a Straight Line is by far my favorite album by the band so far. tho I am way overdue for a discog run, could very well enjoy some of their older stuff a lot more now.
Parting the sea was and remains maybe the most impactful emotional record of my adult life even if I was a younger adult then hah. Jeremys lyrics hit the same spot in my adult life and anxiety as Geoff's did my misplaced vague teenage ones. And musically totally unfuckwitable. Hell, one of their total masterpieces is only on the split with Pianos. A historically very very important band
