On second listen, I like this a lot more. Still quite a few lines that I think are questionable but overall its very good and probably their best.
Just joining the thread now so I'm sure I've missed a ton but I'm just wrapping up my first listen and wow. Skyscraper is such a perfect closer. Never got into to Touché before, not sure why but this album is just perfect.
I love this! I think the lyrics are the best part of the record because of how straightforward and blunt they are.
"She gave me her best, she swore I was her heart I couldn't worship the god that let her fall apart I'm not sure what I believe Well I think that's understood But I know she's looking out for me The way she said she would The way she said she would The way she said she would” I'll admit the imagery is not there, but this part fucking destroyed me. It perfectly captures the anger and assurance I've felt at different times after losing my dad to cancer. Is Jeremy the most amazing lyricist ever? Certainly not. But his message on this record is extremely clear. It's straightforward, honest, and heart wrenching, and beautiful.
Sent my mom a text telling her I love her and how important she is to me and her response is "I love you too but what do you want?! Lol" My mom is wonderful

Coincidentally, that's when Jeremy's mom died. So a lot of this album stems from things that happened that night.
That part where he references not being able to listen to What Sarah Said anymore hit as close to home as you can possible hit.
Just think, to go from playing Fest as Booche Amore on Halloween, to finding out your mom is dead within minutes of each other has to be impossibly hard. Me either. It kind of puts things in a weird context haha
The only problem I had with that is that they released the closer before the album. That would have definitely hit home even harder when listening to it as part of a whole. I mean as a one-off it was great too, I just wish they had either chose to release another song or I had the will power to not listen to what they released
remember in 2012 Balance and Composure, O'Brother, Touché and Circa all toured together and of course Andy produced Garden Window and there's your connection
