This section in Palm Dreams has great imagery, in my opinion. Was it all the palm trees Placed where they shouldn't be That made you feel complete In this land of make believe Palm trees actually aren't indigenous to California, so they are placed where they shouldn't be. And I think that in itself references that LA is known to be kind of "fake" or make believe.
Just checked my order and it said it will arrive on Saturday, which is a bit surprising. No complaints here.
I'm only 5 tracks in now (Displacement being my favorite) and I like the lyrics for what they are. One could try and compare them to Kyle's from PBTT where he uses great metaphors and really paints pictures regarding his father's passing, whereas Jeremy's seem very straight forward without obscurity. Both are really beautiful in their own way.
"You died at 69 with a body full of cancer/I asked your God how could you? But never got an answer" "Last week I crashed my car and walked away unscathed. Maybe that was you asking me to keep my faith" These aren't like the best lyrics ever but I like that he's blunt and straightforward it makes it more human
Ugh, Benediction... Just unbelievable. The first time Jeremy starts yelling in that track, it just kills you. The contrast the clean vocals create are so good. I'm having a really hard time putting into words how I feel about this album right now. It's so vulnerable. This is a brave, brave album to put out. These lyrics completely expose Jeremy in every way possible. That's a brave thing to do. I'm just kind of floored by the release right now, I don't know what else to say for now.
Water damage is my favorite upon first listen (excluding the singles) but benediction and flowers are up there as well. This is going to be my AOTY and it really won't even be close.
"He's brought his mother back to life as both a saint of the infinite city and a crucible of hope for the rest of us." like wow what a review
This isn't a record I can listen to all of the time, two tracks in and it wrecked me hard. Really love the tone of the record so far, who produced this?
That pitchfork might be one of the best reviews I've read from that site. This album is just stunningly beautiful
This album is really great after my first listen. Definitely wanna sit down with the lyrics to this sometime, but, from what I could make out, this was brutal.
Never really got into any of their other stuff but I'm like three songs into this and I can tell I'm going to listen to this a lot. It's pretty upsetting though. I can already tell I'm probably going to cry at some point listening to this album.
Had a dream I met Jeremy Bolm, Kyle Durfey, and Jordan Dryer at a Thursday concert and we all just hung out and took pictures and I kept bugging Jeremy about this album. It's weird what your mind will make up to fill in the gaps
The first two tracks are incredible back to back, especially New Halloween. The lyrics for that are devastating, will be interested to see how this transitions to be played live
Went to text my mom and as I opened our last convo on my phone she texted me a full paragraph about how she loves and misses me which of course made me tear up. If I take anything from this album it'll be tinny take what I have for granted
