There is no doubt that this band has grown immensely since the self titled from 2008. But even so, I don't know that I would say they were a bad band. I guess it kind of depends what your litmus test for bad music is. That being said, after one listen of the whole thing Stage Four has a sizable chance of dethroning ISB as my favorite. I need some time to connect to it more personally, but I don't doubt it has what it takes.
The album didn't have a lot of standout moments on first listen but I have a feeling a couple listens in this album is going to wreck my top ten for this year. The few lyrical snippets I caught (I'm working while listening) were heartrending. And that voicemail at the end? Chills.
Have never cared for a release by this band before, saw them live with Circa about four years ago and their set was borderline laughable I've listened to this three times today and am totally sold. Back half of this album is way impressive
"Benediction" and "Flowers and You" we're huge stand outs to me. "Displacement" remains to be one of the best songs of the year for me
The Keep You of 2016. As someone who is very close to their mom and has a family that is plagued with several deaths by cancer, this is absolutely wrecking me
1 week from today is the five year anniversary of my dad's passing. Listening to this is going to ruin my mood in the best way possible.
hehe the music here is really energetic and fast paced which matches the intensity of the lyrics but also makes it something i will go the fuck off to when i see them live in november
1 listen in and I like what I'm hearing, but I need more time to say I love it. New Halloween, Palm Dreams, Posing Holy and Skyscraper were my standouts. This definitely feels like a grower to me, though.
ive been listening to is survived by a lot recently (mowed the lawn to it yesterday) so i was kinda of ready for their next step to come in my life and really this record takes everything they did on is survived by and improved upon it tenfold. was really happy they went with brad wood again, this record has a similar feel sonically to is survived by. both are immaculately produced for hardcore records.
Softer spoken is another favorite Jeremy has a really good voice. I'm really glad I didn't listen to skyscraper beforehand. This is beautiful
maaaan, i was hoping my deluxe package was gonna get here today. turns out the mail only had something for my brother. got my hopes up there.
Lol soz misread it, a lot of people I know IRL won't even give this a chance because 'lol touche amore', which sucks when an album like this hits you so personally...
Skyscraper reminds me of The National in the first half. The message that shows up after the song really messed me up, especially the fact that Bolm couldn't bring himself to listen to the message. Benediction and Flowers & You are my personal standouts
The sun kill moon reference is amazing. This album is phenomenal. My grandmother has just been diagnosed with cancer and this album is hitting me hard.
