i dont think somewhere is anywhere as bad as a lot of people here do. it was a hugely important record to me. still, i much prefer wildlife. i respect your preference though
I listen to both a ton every fall and I think I like the story of Wildlife better but the music of Rooms much much much more.
alright I'll share my opinion on La Dispute for probably the fourth time in the Touche Amore thread. Rooms and Wildlife are both fantastic and wonderful. They attempt to do different things and they both succeed, I can see why people would prefer either one. I personally like Wildlife a fair amount more because I the stories and lyrics on that album move me more and I just find it to be a more consistent listen as well as having most of my favourite LD songs. Rooms is still a wonderful album that I love very much and I'm very excited to hear where they go next whenever they get around to making new music.
Never been able to truly get into Rooms partially because of the production; the end half of Wildlife is one of my favourite moments in recent music though. Should probably give the former more of a chance though. Also Skyscraper is song of the year fight me irl
I thought that at first, but after a few listens, I think they absolutely nailed how much she does. Think because when I saw it was ft. Julien Baker I expected like Sprained Ankle with Touche Amore or something, but as a duet it's so beautiful in this, it just works
Rooms has way better production than wildlife, Jordan's vocals are a thousand times better, the lyrics are better and less over the top and melodramatic (come on, king park is overrated as fuck and almost embarrassing for me to listen to now), it's more concise and cohesive, has zero throwaways while wildlife has at least two if not more, it's just a huge step up in every department. And I love wildlife. But rooms gets literally everything right. Wildlife misses some marks.
