Parting and Somewhere are about equal for me in that I think they're bad and over the top but I can see people having nostalgic or emotional connections with them. Pianos probably have the best discography out of the 3
lumping pianos in with these bands is pretty unfair imo. im just glad people don't talk about MDAM in relation to these bands anymore.
Cheesy, bad, over the top and obnoxious aren't terms I'd use for this band and I'm old enough that they're not really a nostalgic act for me. Your obviously entitled to your opinions and perhaps I just have shit taste, but I'm just honestly surprised by this assessment of them. You learn something new every day.
The lyrics on Parting The Sea are definitely cheesy to me now. The comparison to Somewhere At The Bottom was on point. Also, this band just started writing much more interesting songs dynamically with ISB and Gravity Metaphorically.
To The Beat Of A Dead Horse. I've only listened to it a couple times years ago, it, considering my feelings towards Parting now, I'm not sure I have the courage to re-listen to Horse.
I like PTS. I think it's a cool short hardcore record, def don't think it's anywhere close to as cheesy as the first LD album
I like this band but I don't think they've ever stopped being cheesy. Instrumentals are great but lyrics veer into cheesy quite a bit still. Even with the pretty heavy subject matter of this album, I expect a lot of cheese. That being said, I like Parting the Sea and even think Horse is ok. Also, I dont really find Somewhere at the bottom cheesy.
i actually heard the reason he did this is because the fest was filled with a bunch of hyper-masculine macho bro hardcore bands so he wanted to come out and be flamboyant as fuck
